in miles tenure, when has the existing starter EVER been supplanted in the offseason? I can't think of a single time other than jefferson getting arrested and perrilloux getting dismissed. So Hatch and Lee starting had nothing to do with "beating out" the entrenched starter. Sorry, not buying jennings losing his job in the offseason. Hope miles proves me wrong.

When was there a legit chance? You can say pre 2009 I guess, but really how much of a difference were JJ and Lee really?

2005 we had Russell so no way in hell anybody was good enough to surpass him in 2006. Then in 2007, Flynn was a 5th year senior who lead a blowout to the 2005 Miami team. Lee was a redshirt freshman in 2008, and Hatch was a transfer. Neither was a good option, and true freshman JJ was the only other option. In 2009, JJ had just came off of decent games against GT and Arky (285 pass yards 3 TDs, 75 rush yards). JJ obviously beat out Lee in the offseason, and had statiscally, one of the best seasons for a young LSU QB ever in 2009. I mean at that point IDK what to tell you. In 2010 both QBs were bad. Lee beat Tennessee, JJ and Lee beat UF, and JJ beat TAMU, Ole Miss, and Bama. Neither had a QB coach. Mett wasn't good enough to beat out either in 2011 (see 2012 for example), and no way he jumps a 5th year senior and 4th year senior after only one offseason in the system. After watching Rivers at Vandy, and Mett now, Mett was obviously the best option in 2013 after the ending of his 2012 season also. So Jennings, a guy in the system a year, has seen the field a bit, and has solid knowledge of the playbook, obviously has the upperhand on the true freshman who has only play football a few years (QB like two years), and is overwhelmed by the NFL level playbook and has to learn QB fundamental.

Harris has a huge gap in talent over Jennings. With a year in the system and hopefully a good work ethic, he will beat Jennings in the spring and fall. Miles is not stupid. Everybody knows Harris is the future. If Harris works his arse off, he will make it damn near impossible to play anybody else over him.

Wish I could believe this, I really do.

Speaking of that, at what point should we anticipate Michigan cutting ties with their current coach, and then coming after Miles?

Right. Then we'll send mr competent Alleva down to the coach store and pick us out a new 12-0 or 11-1 coach off of the clearance rack. Got it.

Yep. And imagine how filthy we'll be with just an average or above average passing attack...

3 or more losses in 5 of 10 seasons under Les is what makes me feel better.

Mark Richt will be Michigan's next coach, not Miles.

Experience, my friend. Experience.

there it is again --- experience.

Experience alone doesn't turn a bad QB into a good one. Sure, experience helps a player, but without the underlying talent, experience doesn't mean much at all.

AJ has already had sufficient experience (2nd year under Cam, month of practice as starter in bowl game, all of spring and fall camp, and 10 games this year). I'm seeing poor play and no improvement. Maybe that's because the talent just isn't there.

By the way, you do realize that Cam Newton, Manziel, and Jameis Winston all won the Heisman in their first year as a starter. So you can keep your experience - I'll take the more talented guy (with or w/o experience).

Raw emotion isn't good for you. Think a little bit.

We've gone undefeated in the regular season exactly twice, going back to the 1930s.

Idiotic to think we're doing it next year, especially with the OL losses and our QB issue.
