To be clear, I'm not comparing Jennings to Jefferson. I just thought its unfair to give Jennings such praise with such pedestrian numbers.
Maybe it's just a personal preference, but I hate the fact that they are considering putting a true freshman in so early. Especially considering now, that his numbers against live, college speed defense were not great at all.
I'm all for letting a kid grow. Putting them in way too quickly can be disastrous. Why force them in when you have a capable backup?

JJ to Jennings comparisons are fricking ignorant. Jennings can already make throws JJ couldn't dream of
But bilj they are both black.

True freshman with talent are playing all over the SEC and football everywhere.
Numbers can mean nothing in spring games. I thought everyone had learned that long ago.

Rivers played the #2-3 defense with the #1 offense for the most part
Actually you're even wrong on this. Rivers played against ALL WALK ONS in the secondary unless Holmes was still out there in the second half. Mett played against 3 walk ons, Sandolph, and Holmes in the secondary and he is a backup. This spring game was very misleading and with so many starters for D out, you could just chalk it up to playing against a JV team for Mett and Rivers.
Why do you guys not look at who Beckham and Landry were catching the balls on? You can't take anything from the White team's performance be c ause they weren't even given a challenge.

Nobody is saying he should start because he needs time to adjust to the game, but with the first team offense against the first team D, I think he would have crushed both Mett and Rivers "great days".

This...spring games, and this one even more than even usual IMHO reveal little of substance at least in terms of evaluating individual players.
White team offense had not a slight but significant advantage in comparison to Purple offense. QB's had much more time to throw, RB's had huge holes, WR's and other eligible receivers were running wide open all afternoon. Purple offense had no such luxuries.
Hard to compare performances of any players at any position on opposite teams in that context.

Jennings 8-21 98 yards and sacked twice
Rivers 7-10 185 yards 2 TD's and sacked once....
UMMMMMMMMM..............? Explain
oh I see..... I read above.

Wow. If you are throwing stats out there, your agenda is certainly showing.
For one, Beckham and Landry gave River's a TON of YAC. I'd venture to say 65% of River's yardage came from Beckham, Landry, and Dural breaking tackles and taking it to the house.
Second, as mentioned, Jennings had Kadron Boone, and Jarrett Fobbs as his primary receivers, and the 2nd string O-line going against the 1st team D-line. It's laughable at how much of a disadvantage he had.
Despite that, he still looked composed, on target, and extremely accurate with his throws, long, intermediate, and short. Most of the time, he just had nowhere to go with the ball, or a receiver that couldn't make a play on a catchable ball.

Did you go to the spring game prom or are you putting everything in stats? Jennings played against all the 1's with no running game and no o-line. He made some really good throws was rushed and remained calm in the pocket. Rivers looked good as well, but was playing against walk ons and a lot of his yards were because of the receivers making big plays after the catch against inferior defenders. Rivers passed up a wide open deep ball that he looked right at to throw a pass to the sideline that the receiver just happened to bust open.

He can crush defenses by pulling it down and running....something Nick saban's big fat defensive lines can not handle...aka A$M's Qb...
Johnny Football was a freakish anomaly. He'll be shut down this season.
That "Pulling it down and running" shite doesn't work with any consistency in the SEC. Defenses are too fast.
So unless the "ADTQB" is somewhat competent in the passing game, they're easy to shut down.
From all reports, (Garnered from the relative low pressure safety and seclusion of the practice fields) Jennings seems to be somewhat competent and developed in throwing it around, at least more advanced than the common every day ADTQB.
We'll just have to wait and see what he does in a game situation. Only time will tell if he can do all the things that Cameron requires in a QB. (Reading defenses, game management, clock awareness, going through progressions to find 2nd and 3rd receivers, ball control/safety, etc....) And he may do all that well in practice, but when the lights come on there's always the possibilty that he's the type that gets nervous and suddenly forgets how do to do all those things when the pressure is on. Nobody knows that and we wont know that until we actually see him play in multiple games.

But he is a former player on the team. He must know "they" can't play QB. They are better at non-thinking positions.
Those type QBs can't win championships. Tebow, Vince Young, Cameron Newton, Kapernick, Russell Wilson, OSU QB, are the exception to the rule.
