People watch these big openers that don't watch routine Saturday games. Great exposure. Think MNF in NFL

We should play Univ of Texas - that would be huge!

I doubt Texas would agree to play us, but Oklahoma might. That would be a good one, too.

ETA: OU probably wouldn't agree, either. They already have one neutral site game in Texas every year against UT. Probably the reason neither one of them will likely ever play in one of these games, especially in Texas.

There was a rumor that I saw recently of LSU and Florida State working on a game. I think I saw it in an interview with Jimbo Fisher

That would be big if true. But it wouldnt be next year since FSU is kicking off against Oklahoma state in the cowboy classic.

With the new national championship tournament it will be important to play big name opponents to get selected. FL State, a quality Big 10 or Big 12 school would be good.

Look this isnt about the loss of a home game type decision for LSU. LSU has made it clear they are going to continue to do these kickoff games as much as they can. It's a brilliant move. Less teams play that first weekend so its great exposure in that respect as well as the exposure for being in another city. As i said, Houston has the largest LSU alumni base outside Louisiana, so this SHOULD be a priority for LSU to make happen. It's not like Baton Rouge/Louisiana fans wouldn't come. Houston isnt THAT far away.

Any idea what the ticket allotment will be this time for the Cowboy Classic? In 2010 we got more tickets than Oregon did because of the close proximity of BR to Dallas. Since TCU's campus is about 20 minutes away from Jerry World, will they get more tickets than LSU?

the real question is: what is the allotment of GOOD tickets going to be, i.e. not in the nosebleeds...

Not sure. I'd guess not though. While it is basically a home game for TCU, the school only has about 9500 students. I'd venture to guess that it'd be about even or LSU with more.

Lots of money and exposure in those games.

LSU vs. Oregon was a much better game than Bama vs. Mich.

They might be planning to open the 2014 season at home because the south end zone upper deck is supposed to be finished by then, and they can set the new attendance record the first game.

Exactly. And Bama plays these crap openers (Wisky = will be junk, VT = junk, Mich = junk) and somehow that is them stepping up OOC.

Although the high profile games like ORE/UT/etc would be great, it could prove detrimental to us if we lose.

Texas would never play LSU. They are happy with New Mexico St or North Texas each year to open the season and charge 80 bucks a ticket and get 100,000 in the stadium.

Mississippi State is playing Oklahoma State in the inaugural "Texas Kickoff Classic" at Reliant Stadium on Aug. 31, 2013. I'm guessing LSU will be one of the teams to play in that game in the near future.

Whoa...I guess they have to start somewhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
