I thought all the Tigerdroppings experts were against dual threat qbs. I'm officially confused.

Not saying I disagree... I just can't help but think the only difference between Randall and the rest of this list is opportunity.

I have been saying for a while now that Mett while a good passer is such a poor runner and terribly immobile that he has become a liability in the total offensive scheme. Further, I dont know if Rivers is any more mobile. Once and a while you have to be able to scramble for 5 or 10 and pick up some crucial yards.

I don't think Miles wants to go back to a 2 QB system any time soon. QB's aren't like pitchers. Once one gets pulled from a game due to performance issues, there is the risk of damaging that QB's confidence. I rather not test the waters and hope Mettenberger greatly improves going into his senior year. He seems to have gotten pretty good in home games. He needs to not let it fall apart during away games.

I don't care if he is a dual threat or pocket passer. I just want someone who can make plays when the first option is not open. It seems like Randall will never see the field at LSU. U would think he would at least have a package of plays, since he is the only running threat we have at QB.

Randall got beat out by Rivers, he isn't that good
They are probably both all-world. Who knows, since the coach won't let them play? I am beginning to think that Les has some deep-seated resentment issues from play o-line.

I think Les wants it as simple as it can be. Separate packages for personnel take practice time away from working on those slants and squeezing RB's in between the tackles.

Practice you talking about practice???? Hatch beat out both Lee & JJ in 2009 but we all know how that turned out.

Hatch was about as good as they were?

If 70% of the players in near proximity to Randall played and many also had success then something is wrong. Our development or talent evaluation is not good at the QB position. You also consider how poorly Mett played at times.

My preference is a QB that is an accurate passer. He should be comfortable throwing from the pocket. If he can do those things then mobility is a plus. If he isn't accurate then he better be a damn good playmaker with his feet. Create open receivers by extending plays.

That wasn't directed towards you Shotime. I'm specifically talking to all the "I don't want a dual threat qb",posters.

I want somebody with mobility and not just a statue and if he is just a statue, he better be a damn good accurate passer. Bray is slow but he has a big arm and his best attribute is the deep ball. Mett can make all the throws but he throws waaay to high all the time. Don't know if it's release point or he just gets too much air under them.

And when I say mobility, I escape ability. Guys like Murray and McCarron can escape the pocket when it collapses(both can throw the ball pretty well too).

I don't really care if Mett can't scramble to pick up a first, that isn't really all that bothersome. However, Mett's immobility is a huge concern inside the pocket. He can't move about the pocket and keep from getting sacked. You see the seasoned QB's all the time sliding left/right to avoid a defenders arm, or them stepping up in the pocket to avoid the DE rushing past the Tackle deep in the backfield.

As far as Mett making all the throws this isn't exactly completely true. We've seen LSU's players have to make diving/jumping efforts time and time again. That and Mett's deep ball for how pretty it looks and how far he can throw it the pass is hardly ever accurate.
