Why on earth are you trying to plug 43 guys into a 34 defense?

Brockers was a special player, I'm not believing Valentine is better than Logan until I see it on the field.

No offense to current players but there are no parallels to be drawn here.

This post is the most sobering post of the year. No comparison in that list. Our D will be good but not 2011 good. Hopefully our offense is a lot better than 2011.

Thankfully NO team this year will be 2011 Alabama good.

The 2011 D was the best by far but I could see KT being a Claiborne type player and Donte could easily be as good as Brooks. Adams is a big time safety also. It's not absurd to expect all these guys to improve from last year.

The '11 secondary alone almost takes the cake.

No lie. The ones from 2016 I picked was me just wanting it to be closer...but it's really not.

best secondary lsu has ever had.

Talent wise alone 2010 was better.
2010 had 2 thorpe award winners, 2 bednarik award winners, and a Heisman finalist.

As does the dline. 2011 had 8 dlineman that would go on to be drafted.

Jesus, I hope y'all's defense isn't 2011 level this year. Might be the best college defense I've ever seen.

I asked if Adams was overrated in a thread on the rant earlier today. I know he's really good, but I'm not sure the hype is 100% warranted.

Similar to Collins his junior season. Dude was solid, looked the part, and was taken early in the 2nd round(I know Adams has a great chance to go in the 1st), but Collins didn't deserve the hype that he received.

They're different types of safeties, but I'm pretty damn sure I'd take Eddie Jackson over Collins 10/10 times. Yet Jackson doesn't get half the airtime that Collins had.

I just think y'all could replace Adams and not have too many worries. I could be wrong, though.

Good breakdown. You almost have to compare 2010 play projecting 2011 results to truly compare though. As 11 had their chance to shine already. I didn't expect brockers and Logan to be quite the duo they were. And minter was unknown.

There are so many good players there are bound to be a bunch of different opinions:

IMO you see ego and Herron off the bench ahead of Johnson and Gilmore.

I think key starts over Mingo at buck and Mingo plays F. Either or though.

I think aranda would have both minter and beckwith on the field.

I think your best base is tyrann and Reid/Adams at S with white and Claiborne boundary.
In nickel tyrann would slide down with Adams/Reid coming in at S. I think brooks and toliver are your next two in.
Really hard to go wrong with secondary here though, hard to not have Adams in base. Depending on the style of offense maybe Reid and Adams are interchangeable as starters.

Its warranted to say he is one of the best dbs in the sec and if youre one of the best dbs in the sec then youre one of the best in cfb. He was tied for 4th in the sec in interceptions.

Finished third on team with 67 tackles, including 47 solo stops … Added 5.0 tackles for loss, six pass breakups and four interceptions.
he led all safeties in solo tackles

Adams is not a Landon Collins. Jamal can cover receivers in man coverage if needed. Apples to oranges.

Very wrong. Dude has unteachable instincts.
