According to the video title and notes he was running tires that are recalled for tread delamination. Wonder if this was before or after the recall went out.

Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport 305/30ZR21
Speed rating Y = 300 km/h
(recalled for Tread Delamination)

i had looked that up. he was very close to the rates speed of the tires. but the forces on the tire are magnified when you hit a bump or dip in the road. so it could have failed for that reason as well

Not really a thing with German autobahn. Think more to do with it being a 4500 - 4800 lb car, well over 1000lbs heavier than other cars that sport those tires OEM.

That's pretty insane he didn't die. Call me a pussy, but there's no way I'm going 175 mph without a helmet, hans device, 5-point harness, roll-cage, and fire suppression system. That's just too much kinetic energy to mess with for me. Humans are quite squishy.

Do you have any qualms about going 75 mph?

No, but don't forget that the kinetic energy equation has velocity squared. Doubling speed quadruples energy. The difference in energy between 75 mph and 175 mph is 5.4x more energy.
