Today LSU defeated the University of Havana. 56-0. "Doc"Fenton played on that team which had a 7-3 record. 1908 saw the tigers go undefeated including a10-2 victory against Auburn. Doc told the story that he could have run the ball out of the endzone had a fan not reached over the rope that restrained the crowd and "knocked him cold" with a cane. Sounds like a typical Auburn game.

Also, for a fun fact LSU was the only team to score on Auburn that year.

Auburn lied and claimed we had paid players after we beat them so we didn't even with the Southern championship. The state of Alabama has always been full of sore losers.

Doc Fenton was blonde?
Dunno - hard to tell in black and white photos, I just know that's what they called him. I remember them yelling it profusely during the game. "El Rubio Vaselino, muy rapidamente, muy guapo!"

Doc was likely a light colored red head when he played at LSU, based on the Cuban game nickname.
Daft card shows light color only.
Yes Tulane brought up the charges, it was more like throwing mud, they said much more in the press to reporters than made in their report they later sent to the press for release.
But it was Auburn that paid for it's staff member to travel north to many states trying to gather information on LSU.

The 1908 LSU team was nicknamed the "Score a Minute Tigers". They scored 442 points in 450 minutes of play. Probably already posted but...

Loose English tranlation: The vaselined (ie slippery) blond, very fast, very handsome." I hope the women were yelling the last phrase. If the men were yelling it then no wonder they lost.

Just an FYI... 104 years ago college football didn't have hash marks. The ball was placed at the point of tackle as long as the tackle was in bounds.
So, if you were tackled 1 yard from the sideline that's where the center lined up, forcing all of the other offensive linemen to line up on the opposite side of the center.
Also, in the late 1890s many college teams did not have a coach. The team captain ran the show.
