Best beam I've seen from Arenas at LSU

Glad she did it confidently after all the crap that happened prior to her going up there

Do you have any idea when we could expect to see Dunne back? We really need her now with Kiya being out.

She’s been warming up at meets, I’d be surprised if we don’t use her on Monday

Gnat take over? DD finish out the year

I sincerely hope not. Gnat is beam coach, and we’re not exactly lighting it up on beam. I loved her as a gymnast, but not sold on her as a coach. She has no head coaching experience. If they let Jay go, they have to go after a proven winner.

What a disappointing night. I’m heartsick for Kiya. Upset for Bryce. So very proud of Haleigh for her AA title. She really pulled it together after her floor routine. Thank goodness for her! Kudos to Elena on her really good meet. Not impressed with Alyona on any event. Never have been. Glad to see Lexi getting into the bars lineup, and hopefully we will see her on more events. With the injuries, at least maybe now Jay will be forced to give some of the freshmen and sophomores a shot. Are Annie, Tori, and Ashley all hurt? Why haven’t we seen any of them? Sure seems like we have a lot of injuries.

We can still have a decent season, and I think we have a lot of talent. But things are certainly worrisome regarding the direction of the team.

I’m ignorant to this because I’m not a gymnast and I know gymnastics is freaking hard and draining on the body.. but those girls looked TIRED. And not just one or two, but all of them. It’s only the 2nd meet of the season. Does back to back travel take a lot more out of you?

We never compete well at Kentucky. If I am not mistaken, this is our third straight loss there. I am a positive as any fan, but it is hard to preach patience when there is not much growth shown from last year, especially with Kiya going down.

A whole lot of people were ready for DD to go and Jay received the program in outstanding condition. He needs to fix it immediately.

To make us feel a little bit better, LSU’s score tonight still would have beaten ranked Alabama and Arkansas.

#10 LSU 196.575
#8 Bama 196.475
#16 Arky 195.625

A gymnastics melt???

Nahhhhh baw, they’ll be fine. They are getting good scores, can’t control what the opponent does in gymnastics though.

Judges definitely overscored KY on uneven bars, 4 of their girls scored career highs on that event. The announcers also commented that our girls were upset over our vault scores and that Jay told them not to worry about scores. Not saying the judges screwed us but, between that and the mishaps/falls, it was a bit of a rough night. After our meet I watch a little bit of the Auburn/FLA meet and man those elite/Olympic athletes on those teams are head a shoulders above. NIL has changed college gymnastics and made the competition a lot tougher. Leanne Wong from Auburn got 3 10s last night. The bar has been raised much higher than when DD was coaching.

Good post. They still need to fire Jay Clark. He is a good recruiter and assistant coach but this program has dipped. He didn’t do well at Georgia either. Is LSU gonna wait until attendance starts to decline or is the AD going to get out in front of it is the question.

The OP’s headline was meant literally. Hard to watch last night. Praying both young ladies make a full recovery.

Jay Clark needs to step down. We have too much talent to be losing like this the last two years.

I was excited for Jay to take over, but this wasn’t what I envisioned. When a new coach comes in (and that usually happens when a team is going in the wrong direction), I’m for giving him/her a few years to right the ship. Get their own recruits in, establish their own system. But Jay was already on staff, had his own recruits, and inherited a team that was at a very high level. What he has done with all that is very worrisome.
