It really is the defense...

Stats as of this week...
Offensively:
- #5 in total yards
- #4 in yds/g
- #9 in total passing yards
- #8 in passing yds/g
- #18 in total rushing yards
- #27 in rushing yds/g
- #7 in total points
- #9 in pts/g
- #3 in total first downs
Defensively:
- #16 in total yards
- #6 in yds/g
- #40 in total passing yards
- #28 in passing yds/g
- #9 in total rushing yards
- #5 in rushing yds/g
- #41 in total points
- #32 in pts/g
Even with Leavitt being 421/421 of passers for interceptions thrown, the offensive is still plenty capable of keeping with playoff caliber teams.
But while having the defense be the 6th ranked defense in yards per game is nice, it's meaningless if the defense is also #41 in total points and #32 in points per game allowed.

Offense has still left quite a few points off the board. But overall I agree with you

It doesn't have to be either/or.
It's both.
Both sides of the ball had an opportunity to win the UK game. The offense lost one (4th and 1), and won one (OT score). The defense lost both.
Same thing in the OM loss. The defense made a couple of stops to let the offense tie the game, but then gave up a long TD drive (and 2 pt conversion after a few penalties), then the offense couldn't tie it with 6 minutes and the ball.

On the drive to tie the game last week, Kentucky ran the same exact play to the TE in the flat three plays in a row. The D never covered it once. Stats don’t measure stupidity.

Absolutely
Sorry baws.

Red zone offense has definitely left a lot to be desired. We get a lot of yards but don’t score as often as we should

Wonder what it would be without all Leavitt's INTs

LSU has had two close games and led late.
This d needs to find consistency to be able to close out people.

So what say you about the defense? Too much pressure?
Posted on 10/17/26 at 10:09 am to NeverLightningInTS
Two things can be true at the same time,. The offense has to stop turning the ball over, and the defense has to make big stops and not give up points at the end of halves or at the end of the game. The defense plays great from the middle of the second quarter to the middle of the fourth quarter, and then they give up the ghost. Do not understand it.

Offense and TOP is why we not 6-0. Our playmakers cant drive in runs so to speak in the clutch.
Take away mcneese game and our offense tells another story. Smdh
We punt too much
We have too many giveaways
We cant sustain a running game
Red zone needs to improve alot

Against a mediocre offense. Wait until they play Bama and Texas.
