Im in Fort Worth and it is hot and humid for Texas in Sept.
Those turf fields get ridiculously hot.

You could see on the screen that it said 163. I'm just assuming she screwed something up on how she used the thermometer or had it setup.

If that was an infrared temp gun, it scans surface temps rather than reading the ambient temp. A metal surface on the field of a turf stadium sitting in the sun could maybe get there.

It would take a minute. I once accompanied a startup team for some PLCs in a Toyota plant. We were in an oven facility where paint is baked onto bumpers and body parts. I shot surface temps on the 3rd level at 150-155 and we were in full jumpsuits, hard hats with hair nets, gloves and boots to prevent any contamination to the paint areas.

I made it 45 mins with a lot of water consumed. The startup guys were up there for over an hour, but they were feeling rough when they got outside.

It’s extended time with no water that will kill you.

I wasn’t denying turf is hotter than air. I meant taking a temperature reading in an area that is known to be hotter than the mean.
I see , not accustomed to the more observant posts like this one .
