The guy was injured, transferred to a different school (different scheme and WRs to learn), had some hiccups early but clearly was busting his arse. He settled in tonight, lost his scrambling ability (which was elite, for the record) and had to pass from the pocket.
And looked great.
He was the #1 qb in the portal, and someone close to Kiffin said he's the most talented qb Kiffin has ever had. He showed a lot of that tonight. Had his right tackle not got blown back into him for the tip/int, he probably has another long TD on that play.
Not sure how you can't be optimistic at this point.
