Zachary Evans at 14.........(info)

I had the opportunity to coach against him a few times between the ages of 14-15 (select football) and actually coached him in an All-Star game at U of H. I can honestly say I was aware #1 (Evans) was one of their better players. As all know he is a talent and many feel he has an attitude issue.
Texas Heat (my team) vs Houston Outlaws (Evans #1)
I don't know if attitude issue is the right phrase. While practicing for the all-star game and even coaching in the game, this kid never approached me or complained, UNTIL he heard a family member complaining about him being the best on the field and only playing defense. At that point he changed and the attitude kicked in (I didn't like it one bit). There were 25 elite athletes on our team and it was established to play all on both sides of the ball equally, splitting between halves.
Eventually I had him realize the noise was his worse enemy. He had to sit for a while, then came in, played like a stud and showed respect.
Kids get the big head and Evans fell prey. He had his troubles at NSHS and the coaches there don't play. I would be very careful. In the RIGHT PROGRAM (coach who is mentally tough and a strong father figure) and around the right people I feel he could shed the negativity and would not be a distraction.

There are seven threads with Evans in the title on the first page. Not including the other threads that are essentially about him too. Can we get a master Evans thread?

You can tell that the recruiting cycle is tapering off. We are running out of fresh topics!

I was in fact a complete tool at 17. High functioning, but still a complete tool obsessed with sex and beer and how cool I was and eager to tell you about it . I feel like everybody would cringe if they had 15 minutes to talk with their 17 year old self. I appreciate coach weighing in and I hope this kid is successful wherever he goes and doesn’t let ego squander his opportunity .

At least this thread, unlike others, had some real insight into Evans’ ability and character.
Thanks for the post.
Thanks for the post.

I hope Evans really goes to A&M, he has trouble written all over him. If he comes in, it will either be him, Davis-Price, Emery or Curry that would enter the transfer portal within a year!
I don't know the kid at all but from what I have read and his actions so far to date that is just my two cents. His attitude could be a huge distractions for this team, especially at the RB position.

Ok if RaginTXTiger is legit with his info, I will believe him, this is PROOF that you want to pass on this kid. He has had issues with coaching since he was 14years old. He will apologize each and every time he gets in trouble but he doesn't learn from his past mistakes because in reality those "apologies" are just fake in order for him to get back on the field and more importantly he obviously thinks he is correct not the coaches because he continues with his disruptive behavior.
He is NOT worth the risk, he ISN'T even considered a generational player so hell no he ISN'T worth it.
To LSU fans that want this kid, his history is very clear he has a history of being a distraction to his team because of selfishness.
People his High School coaches had to suspend this kid not ONCE, but TWICE in the same year including suspending him the day of his High School state championship game.
Think of it this way, how pissed would you be if he was a key player for LSU and their quest for a Nato and this Monday the day of the game he is suspended for the game for insubordination which is what he did in high school. Think about it how pissed would you be if this kid possibly ruined a chance for us to win a Naty because he got suspended just prior to the game?
LSU is a top 5 program we don't need a talent like Evans to win Naty's when he brings along all this baggage and risk. We will get a great back and we won't have to worry about that players character!
As wise men always say, don't look at what a person says, look at what they do to determine their character!

Did not realize Evans cannot sign another LOI. NCAA rules prohibit this. If any school s going to want to sign Evans they will have to take his word for it and hope he shows up on the first day is school.
Sounds risky

The kid sounds bi-polar, to be honest.

You are an idiot. There are tons of kids across the nation who were angels in high school and then turned into problem child's once they got to college. Fwiw, Coach O could give two shits on whether you or any other fan signs off on who he wants on his team. If O and Evans decide its a good fit he will be a Tiger. Then and all the fans trashing this kid will show how hypocritical they are by cheering loudly whenever he performs on the field.

I don't take it as bi-polar... I take it as a pretty good kid who has a LaVar Ball-like family figure in play and is subservient to that person.
Get him away from that environment and he's probably a normal kid.

I’ve known Zach since his freshman year. I’m telling all of y’all- the kid is insanely gifted but is immature and surrounded by sharks. Get this kid under Coach O and the family environment at LSU and he will thrive. And he will get his head on straight. Trust me. I hope he chooses the tigers, but in the end, I’ll root for him wherever he goes because he’s been a kid jerked around every which way since he was in middle school. One day he will look back on all this and shake his head. He really is a good kid.

Good response LSUpimp. I know it’s hard for posters here to understand the attitude of one of the top players in the country. Of course they are accustomed to complaining about little Johnny not playing much.

Thanks for saying this. No one needs to be judging a kid straight out of high school. My first year of college I didn’t care, was flunking and withdrawing from classes left and right. Turned it around and achieved perfect 4.0’s junior and senior years. People need to give the guy some slack.

I am laughing so hard at your incompetence I don’t even want to respond because it is obvious your lack of intelligence won’t allow you to keep up!!!
I don’t debate with moron’s it is a futile waste of time because you can’t ever expect them to understand logic. If they understood logic chances are they wouldn’t be a moron! You, you have no shot moronic dumb dumb!
