I have been recruited as a player, and participated in recruiting as a coach albeit in basketball. When you lose trust, you lose credibility. Long term that affects recruiting. I’m not saying you don’t tell certain kids playing time will be tough, etc. However, you have to be very careful how this is done. High school coaches talk.

The players wanting to commit to LSU is going to force the coaches to trim the roster down somewhat soon to make room. I mean we are already at 25 recruits.

I think Coach O will offer a blue shirt to most of these kids because scholarships will be available. It puts the risk on LSU of possibly losing the kid and if we lose him it’s not like LSU didn’t hold a spot for them. It would be their decision to not take that spot.

Perhaps the same reason Van Pran is not considering LSU. Some kids wanna experience college life and football outside their home state.

I believe you can maintain trust with these kids by blue shirting them. If they decide to leave before August that’s on them.

I lived in Suwanee GA for almost 7 years. It’s 5 minutes from Webb’s high school. There is a core group of UGA fans but nothing like LSU fans in La. Fandom is pretty diversified in that area. If I had to guess it’s probably 50% UGA followed by Clemson, Tennessee, USCe, bama, Auburn and LSU. Heck, Deshaun Watson is from right there Gainesville, Ga, 30 minutes up the road and he chose Clemson over UGA.

Rivals article about 15 prospects that LSU and Alabama are both recruiting. The notes on Phillip Webb: Webb will be back in Tuscaloosa this weekend and a decision is likely within the next month. He is expected to sign in December with Alabama and LSU both being finalists. It is clear that out of these two powers, LSU has more momentum in this race. Could this weekend change that? Time will tell, but LSU may be the favorite to land Webb. He took his official visit to Baton Rouge over the summer, he returned for the Florida game and he has really bonded with that staff. Alabama has some ground to make up.

Crazy that he did an official visit yesterday for bama but now is leaning towards LSU
