Either Tre Mitchell or Efton Reid.

Either are massive pulls and fill a big hole in roster. Wade is killing it.

Need a rim protecter. Haven’t had one in a long time.

Kavell was here in 2019.

Yeah. I am talking about a big time rim protecter. 2019 was small taste of what could be.

Mitchell is a center but not a rim protector. His jumping ability is limited. He has a strong offensive game. Reid has a more well rounded game and is definitely a better defender and rebounder. Mitchell could play the 4. But with Shareef, Leblanc, Eason and maybe Ezewiro we really dont need another 4.

Dude Shareef, Leblanc, Eason, and Ezewiro are like grade schoolers compared to Tre Mitchell. Tre is already getting serious looks by NBA scouts. He's 6'9 and averaged about 20ppg at UMASS as a freshman, and can shoot the three. He is #1 on our board I promise you.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for from that spot. Mitchell is probably what LSU fans WANTED Trendon Watford to be. He's a very good back to the basket post scorer who can also step out and shoot the 3. However, he's probably not as quick off the dribble as Watford and is equally a below-the-rim player.

The statement about him not being a "rim protector" is true. So if LSU wants much improved defense at that spot Mitchell is probably not your guy. If you want Watford 2.0 (~16 ppg and some rebounding simply because of his size) then he is your guy.

Despite the rumors I'm still very skeptical he ends up at LSU. Word out there is he and his HS coach/soon to be step father may be a "package deal". I don't know the rules about hiring family members in order to land a recruit when it comes to transfers, but I have a very tough time believing Wade would give the soon-to-be step father one of the three assistant coaches spots simply to land a good, but not transcendent, player for likely just one year. He isn't one of the Mobley brothers (USC) or Porter brothers (Missouri) where hiring their dad just to get them on campus makes sense.

Yeah mitchell doesn't seem to love contact.

I love how he can finish with either hand. Can hit the 3.

Exactly what I saw when watching some of his tape. Has great body control and good looking stroke; but he looks to avoid contact at all cost.

I would be curious though if he would be a great compliment to Eason. Eason is a little shorter than what Wade would like to have at the 5; but Wade did note that based on his stats this past season, he was a nationally top 5 shot blocker per minutes played and had a 15% offensive rebounding rate, which would've made him the best on LSU's team. So maybe he gives the defense and physicality needed in the paint, while Mitchell provides the scoring.

Mickey was pretty legit considering he holds 2 of the top 5 records for blocks in a season. Shaq owns the other 3.

Just don't ask him to shoot clutch free throws

Supposedly FSU has backed off of Mitchell because of whatever package deal the soon to be step dad is seeking. They are claiming "too much baggage".Sounds like they are making a run at Cisse.

He would be a great addition to next year's LSU team. Basically an offensive replacement for Watford. But, IMO, he's not good enough for a "package deal" unless you can stick the soon to be step dad is some "admin" role rather than at one of the 3 assistant spots. Now, the step father does (presumably) have a great pipeline to northeast HS basketball and Wade recruits the northeast hard, but I'm just not sure this is a player who is worth a potential headache.

I don't really see an issue with this package deal. If Mitchell lasts only a year and his soon to be stepfather is a headache, you just go in another direction at that time, no harm to either side.

The exception is if there are concerns with shady dealing but there's nothing to suggest that here.

I actually think that programs like FSU preemptively saying the package deal is too complicated is a good sign. It suggests to me that they realize they aren't going to get Mitchell and want to save face. Mitchell could still go someplace else, but one less competitor is good news if they are truly out of the picture.
