LSU has had many great players from Texas over the years, all the way back to the days of Y.A. Tittle & probably before that. And of course in the last few years the Tigers have landed Russell Shepard, Craig Loston, etc. I live in Texas & it is such a large state both in terms of total population & area covered, that most of the major conferences, along with many minor ones, plus many community colleges seem to all sign at least one or two players per year.

Don't forget the annual game during the State Fair in Dallas that gets Oklahoma tons of Texas publicity, particular in DFW. Note, too, that Norman is just as close to Dallas as Austin is to DFW (around 200 miles).

Easier said than done. Here in N. Tejas, outside of the 3 state schools, ZeroU, Okie State, Nebraska, & UArk pick up a lot of recruits, not to mention what Gary Patterson has been doing at TCU for the last few years.

Throw in the kids that want to go a good ways from home to play in the Pac10 or B10, and there's a lot of schools fishing in the Tejas pond. Other SEC teams are starting to pull kids from here as well.

LSU has had a good presence in this area for years, and this past year saw more N. Texas kids enroll for fall semester than ever before.

With the opener at JerryWorld against UO next season, plus the coming home/home with TCU in '13 & '14, the chances for the Tigahs to pick up more recruits from this area should only improve.

All we need is 2-3 per year from TX.

Didn't Jenkins turn UT down to come to Baton Rouge? I know he used to live in Louisiana, but thought I remembered an article that they we're high on him, but he wanted to go to LSU.
