The chance to get out of Louisiana's stiff cultural bindings: the chance to be in a place that has more to do than hunt, fish, or drink beer (I know, I know, "What else is there?".

I love my unique Louisiana heritage and my coveted degree in visual art from the great LSU, but California is way better. I'm a liberal guy, though, and don't like to be told what to think.

Because he wanted too

We did everything we could go get him to LSU and he was very straight forward and up front with the staff about wanting to go out of state. He didn't "play the game" like some guys have in the past and for that I respect Kenny Young. And he's a baller.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Then grow a pair and next time someone tries to tell you what to think tell em to stop or you'll pop em in the nose.

Very simple. They had some very highly draft rated LB's on their team and a seemingly very good LB development program. Also looked like early playing time was going to be available. He obviously felt it was the best place to go for him as a LB'r.

Yeah, we didn't slow-play Young at all. I think he liked LSU but knew that he'd rather go out of state.

HOt liberal women and going to school in south California is not a bad choice for an 18 year old Louisiana kid.

100% wrong. We backed off Young when we got Garrett. Not saying he didn't want to explore out of state options but we definitely backed off of Young. Fact. That's straight from JT himself.

But saying you can't deal with liberals because of a preconceived generalisation isn't?

I disagree that we backed off of him but only because Chavis never wanted to recruit him in the first place. The effort wasn't put in on the front end for us to be able to say we backed off. I think Frank tried to salvage it late, but Chavis had done too much damage.

Either Chavis was flat out terrible at evaluation or just completely lazy (or both). He didn't want to offer guys that became players at other schools (or were brought in at other positions to LSU) and offered guys that just couldn't play.
