I remember a recruit was set to announce for a rival SEC school (I think Auburn?), but it was leaked before his announcement, so he chose LSU instead 
Think it was either Key or Bower, can't remember. Recruiting is wild. Sorry for the random question

Bower was announced to Florida I believe, but I don't think that made him choose LSU. I think it was just bad reporting.

My mistake. I thought I read an article about weirdest reasons a player committed, and this was one of them. Could be misremembering or misread

Harvey Williams, back in the mid 80's, says he picked LSU at the last minute because he hated the sound of the A&M fight song being played at his signing or announcement ceremony.

I heard it was two girls talking about him going to A&M on the way to the announcement.

Key was committed to South Carolina twice, but committed on TV to LSU a few weeks before signing day.
