RS doesn't really count, but technically, yes.

Yeah but I believe the intention at the time was for him to play QB and not WR. So I would say it counts.

ok here are the 5*'s since 2002

2002
Ben Olsen - Bust
Trent Edwards - probably best of that class

2003
Kyle Wright - Bust

2004
Rhett Bomar - Bust. kicked off the team.
Anthony Morelli - I would put in the Bust column.
Chad Henne - debatable best of the class

2005
Mark Sanchez - Best of the class

2006
Matthew Staford - with 3* Sam Bradford best of the class
Mitch Mustain - Bust. Head case.

2007
Jimmy Clausen - Wouldn't call a bust but never lived up to the hype.
Ryan Mallet - Big year. Think he has a chance for a number 1 pick in 2011.

2008
Blaine Gabbert - looks good
Dayne Crist - we start to find out this year

2009
Matt Barkley - too early
Garrett Gilbert - too early

2010
NONE

That was your 5* pro style options

those dudes were not five star buddy. Colt was a 3star that they only got cus no one else wanted to sit behind young. Im also pretty sure snead was rated higher than colt.

Agree completely.

Both may have been good but they wouldn't have been allowed to throw it around to wide open guys for 3 years in the SEC.

Depends on whose hype you mean. His own or the media's. I'd say he was about as good in college as he could possibly be from a performance standpoint... he just played with some horrible defenses.

Who on the board thinks we need to land a 5 star, pro-style QB for 2011

lol

I wonder why LSU's coaching staff hasn't thought of this.

I would rather have great defenses, a good running game, and physical offensive and defensive lineman. That would be a national championship recipe.

This happened over 20 years ago. You got any recent examples, one guy 20 years ago doesn't help to sell your point.

What a 5* is a bust??? Well it had to be terrible coaches because all highly ranked QBs pan out and it's the coaches fault if they don't.
