If MVB impresses this year then that likely means things went really bad for LSU. Ideally, he won't start or play a meaningful snap all season in a scenario to "impress".

I'm sure the pitch to get him here was to serve a 1 season "apprenticeship" and take over next year as opposed to competing for a job as MSU's starting QB this season. But that doesn't mean LSU won't pounce on an established transfer if one becomes available.

In the 2022 off-season there were a lot of fans on here bitching and moaning about BK going out and getting Daniels to be the starter when LSU had Brennan and Nussmeier on the roster. I'd say BK made the right decision there.

Unless he has made some leap, which he may have, he is not the guy you want as your QB in SEC games. I think it's Hurley or Van Buren.

I understand why you’d think that as he wasn’t recruited as a qb, but he’s #5 in passing yards in Louisiana at the high school level. Not his senior year, that’s all time. That’s not counting his rushing yards, either. And he played defense too. If he wasn’t shorter than 6 feet we wouldn’t even be having this conversation, which is the main knock on him. He has a good arm.

That isn't why I think that. I saw him play almost all of his HS games. He has a lot of flaws in his passing, as is true with most HS QBs, he

#2 at the high school level is signed at NSU.

#4 never threw a pass in college.

Occasionally, but not very often.

His height has nothing to do with my thoughts. He is a talented athlete, but he needs some significant progress to be an SEC-level QB. Could that have happened at LSU, maybe, but he has not practiced much, if at all, as a QB before this season at LSU. You'd be setting him up for failure IMO.

Van Buren can be very very good after two years in our system

Van Buren was pretty damn impressive on a really bad state team last year.
Yeah i don't understand people saying "who are we gonna start". Van Buren played in 9 games last year. He had more passes as a true freshman (254), than Nuss had in his first 3 years at LSU (219). Nuss threw more passes as a backup than any backup is expected to throw as well. He also ran for 5 TDs, making him more of a threat in the redzone than Nuss was last year.

Im not saying he'll come in and be a game one dynamo. What i am saying is that he will have no problem giving us good QB play as a 2nd year starter in his 3rd season.

I don't understand why everyone just skips over Hurley
This is just my opinion, but I think they will chose a guy with SEC experience over , at best, a guy with a bigger arm in Hurley. You got a guy, a true freshman, who started in the old SEC West with the worst team and he actually looked like he could hold his own. I implore you to watch him vs UGA. If that guy did that with Miss St, and a first year head coach, what do you think he could do with LSU's insane talent?

My hope is we can develop a ground game this year that makes the next qb less important. Qb and wr play has had to carry us for the entire BK tenure bc we have had below average running back production.

Well we had 2 Heisman Trophy QB's in 5 years. Guess what? They were both portal guys. Kinda thinking we bring in a portal QB. Kinda worked for us a couple times.
