A. Passing on LaRon Byrd to get Tim Molton...

OR

B. Benton going to Aubumbs... (I know about the Randle situation, but I think they could have both played next year)

you know nobody on here is going to admit the staff made an honest mistake...they will defend their decision to the bone even though its clear we could have used LaRon Byrd

really? wasnt this proven to be the exact reason benton went to auburn and randle came here? besides his 6 catches for 88 yards this year doesnt impress me

byrd is the right answer, although im not sure if he would have had a huge impact here anyway

if you want to talk about recruiting fricks ups, look at passing on christine michael to land seastrunk this year, and now it looks like we wont get seastrunk either, thats a frickup

Signing or the desire to sign so many out of state recruits is starting to catch up with the Tigers.

I'm probably one of the very few that STRONGLY agree with this

No, I do as well but you/we will get relentlessly slammed for this.

I mean...really? You do realize we'll have 5 scholarship WRs next year right?

Toliver
Randle
Tolliver
Taylor
Williams

I think Byrd or Benton would probably be ahead of Taylor and Williams, and maybe even Tolliver. We're talking about two guys who could be our #3 next year, and you say its no big loss. That's BS. Both turned out to be big losses.

Of course, who could have predicted what would happen to Molton?

He saw limited playing time. Almost all of those yards came in one game, where he actually saw a whole quarter of action. Benton is a beast, just not the brightest, so it's taken him longer than most to adjust to Malzahn's system. He'll do big things next year.

Amazing how we can have so much bitching when next year we will have 2 5-star recruits that were the #1 WRs in their respective classes Start next year as a sophomore and junior. Wow that's horrible. Fire Les now...we dont have 4 5-star WRs...damn.

A. and it is not even close. If we had taken Benton we would not have gotten R.R.

Hindsight is 20/20. At the time, the staff thought Molton was better. They were wrong. It happens.

Texas signed Major Applewhite from Baton Rouge, when Drew Brees was right there in Austin with no offer. One of the biggest recruiting flubs in college football history. At the time, there weren't even questioned for it. It's easy to look at these things in retrospect.

Also if you are not impressed with Randle you were not really watching LSU this year. When he got into the games he was running open alot this year. The catches he made were spectacular. When JJ gets in sink with him, you will see one of the best WR's ever to come through LSU, if not THE best.

The kid can flat out play.

What happens if Byrd has a sophmore slump and Molton has 30 catches and 6 TD's next year. Let's wait before we call this one a loss.

Benton should have been at LSU two years ago. If he can't get his crap together and it's not conducive for him to come here when he does, it's his loss, not LSU's. We got Randle so that's a win for us.

I wonder how long Benton is going to stay eligible academically. If a guy has that much of a problem getting into a school, he's going to need a bunch of help- oh, wait, athletes get lots of "help" at Aubarn.

I mean...nobody is saying Molton wasn't better. He got hurt. It very well could be that the coaches made the right choice and just got unlucky.
