I'm simply proving a point here for all you folks with your panties in a wad about Landon Collins (and our wide receivers heading for the exits). Did Landon frick over LSU? Yes. Does that mean that LSU is fricked? No. Have a look at recent top 10 wide receivers (per Rivals.com) and you will see that only a handful are bigtime playmakers today -- and yes I know, LC is not a WR. I chose wide receivers because they seem more likely to prove themselves worthy of their ratings coming out of HS. Hell, we are picked as preseason #1!

P.S. Craig Loston was the #1 safety coming out of HS and was a 5 star recruit.. Injuries aside, the fact is he has NOT played a major role as a safety (although he will fricking crush your sternum on a kickoff return!)

2008 was a pretty solid class. But you could honestly do this for most position with some meaningful stats. Hell, go look at the top RB and QB recruits from mid-2000s to now. I've never even heard of some of them.

My point exactly. It's easy to get pissy about certain recruits, but you never know what will become of them. History proves that each year.

Someone had a cool post around last nfl draft. The experts are correct more than incorrect. Yes some are way off and some two stars make it but if you look at the big picture they are decently accurate.

Still wish Mike Davis and Justin Hunter would have stuck it out. They would have probably transferred after Monday night, but Rueben,Mike, and Justin would have been unfair.

unfair to who? We were a power running team and I dont think we would have seen any more of a passing game even if they had come.

Besides RR had a good season and OBJ has come along nicely has a #2 receiver.

Everything I've ever read indicates that wide receivers, quarterbacks, and offensive tackles are the recruits who are most often busts. Defensive backs and defensive linemen are least often busts. Maybe that's just in the NFL, though. Hopefully.

It sucks losing Collins, and he's very likely to be a stud at Alabama, but I appreciate you trying to improve the mood.

Once Kiel hits OBJ for 3 TD's against LC, we will see who gets the last laugh.

Guy was not booted out of OSU, but he did F himself over his senior year.

He was open on numerous occasions for TDs against both Mich and Fla, but Miller just couldn't get him the ball (mostly overthrows by a young QB who hasn't gotten it all figured out yet)

And was Robert Woods not a top 10 WR coming out of HS? I mean he's a stud and I know he was a 5*

we don't even NEED 3 TD's from Kiel. ALL we need is a QB who:

1. is generally aware that the playclock exists and is a part of the game
2. can make very basic defensive reads and shows a HAIR of decisiveness
3. has basically strong character
4. is marginally consistent
5. can deliver the ball within a 5-7 foot radius of where he intends

with this....we win National Championships.
