What re-opened the floodgates into LSU's recruitment of Texas talent?

For the past few years, that well had gone dry.
LSU seemed to be concentrating more on Georgia.

I don't know if was Texas/Mack Brown's falloff, or A&M joining the SEC, or our continued diligence in playing games in Jerryworld, but whatever it is we did, it seems to be working.

If we can nab Tony Brown, along with the others already committed, it's safe to say LSU is back in Texas in a big way.

Tony Brown is from beaumont...all of 25 miles from Louisiana.

Ed Paris is a New Orleans Native

We've signed quite a few players from Texas recently. Last year was the exception, not the rule, and I think that had more to do with filling needs than anything.

Ed Paris has some Louisiana peeps too if I recall.

All that said, LSU seems to find better players elsewhere, honestly. They cut ties with Hardeman because they are enamored with the likes of Santos Ramirez and Russell Gage (oversimplification, but that's part of it). And they didn't take Adam Taylor because they were all in on Fournette.

I don't think it's inaccurate to say that LSU could be doing better in Texas if it wanted to.

LSU has been recruiting Tony Brown, Ed Paris and Tony Upchurch for a while. I also believe the success in 2010 and 2011 is paying dividends on a national scale.

And Adam Henry is from Beaumont. So they have some pretty good ties down there.

RSJ was the only player from Texas that LSU was after last year. We still have plenty of pull in the lone star state. What's really funny is that A&M thinks that they have pull in Louisiana.

That's pretty much what I heard. Amicable 'split'.

Pretty nice we can smoothly go on to the next big recruit like that.

Maybe a slight advantage at this moment in time due to Arkansas (Petrino recruited heavily in TX) and T-Sips being down?
