Well, when it rains, it pours. Texas A&M has now taken two significant hits to their class

AggiesWire - Well, when it rains, it pours. Texas A&M has now taken two significant hits to their still-elite 2024 recruiting, first losing 2024 four-star wide receiver Drelon Miller. On Thursday night, it was reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett that highly coveted 2024 five-star offensive tackle Weston Davis, who committed to the Aggies in June, has flipped his commitment to the LSU Tigers.
While the specifics of his decision are currently unknown, the Beaumont (TX) native was an overwhelming favorite to land with the Tigers before surprisingly announcing his initial commitment to Texas A&M, so from that narrow perspective, maybe this isn’t as surprising as it looks on the surface.
However, Aggies O-line coach Steve Adazzio has been an absolute disaster this season, and I do not doubt that this had some or even significant influence on Davis’ final decision.
After taking an official visit to LSU on June 23rd, just three days before committing to A&M... who knows how much influence head coach Brian Kelly could have had leading up to today’s news?

Jimbo is gone and they know it.

Why do people assume he is done? They can still win out. Hard to do but not impossible. I want Jimbo and that offense there for a long time.

He's done. He's completely fallen out of grace with their entire fanbase. If/when they lose two more games, it's probably 50/50 whether or not he's back next year.

Pate said it best on his show a couple of weeks ago. There's no mystery left with Jimbo. You know what you will get with him, elite recruiting with suboptimal on field results. So if the goal of atm is to win a championship it isn't a question of IF he is fired it is WHEN.

Even if he isn’t fired this season he will never last 4 years, it’s a matter of when

Give any coach that type of financial backing to buy players and suddenly they’ll become an elite recruiter. Jimbo gets way too much credit.

He is 3-2 verses LSU and should have been 4-1. Sooo nope he needs to go.

I think you missed seeing the 2018 game.

Not with that contract he isn’t. No way he’s gone. He would have to have at least 2 more seasons of equal or less wins to be on a hot seat. To much $$$ wrapped up in his contract.

They would have to buy out Jimbo and most of his assistants and THEN hire a brand new staff. Major major $$$$$$

major major $$$$$$$ that their boosters have.
if lsu can do it (they've bought out alot contracts while bumping up salaries for others in the last 3 years) no reason to think A$M can't

They have been throwing money hand over fist into their program. To get a number one class. Putting money into all their sports. How do the money people know, they will get a better coach than Jimbo? Look at their hires of late, what has that gotten them?
Woody was told, go out and get Jimbo, he did just what they wanted. They really don’t want the AD making the moves in football.
Woody makes the moves at LSU. Very selective, look how it’s payed off. Folks were throwing out names, Jimbo was in that group. Woody had interviewed Kelly from years back. He knew who he wanted and got who he wanted.

Regardless of what Aggie says, the buyout is a big issue which means Jimbo is pretty safe for a couple more years.

Fire Jimbo, bring back Elko.

Thats the last thing I want to see Aggie do.

Texas is throwing out more money than Aggie to top recruits, they may be in for some hard times.
Regardless of the claims of a never ending money spigot, there are always tradeoffs.

You have no idea the wealth of the Texas A&M boosters. They could buy them out with a snap of the finger. Check the price of oil it’s almost $100 a barrel they got that $$. I lived in Houston 20 years. Do not underestimate the a&m wealth or obsession to be relevant. It truly is a cult.

We want Jimbo to stay! We want a roster of guys there only for the money with an incompetent head coach. A A&M team with a competent head coach with a roster of Texas kids who want to be at A&M would be much more dangerous.
