Pretty wild outcome if he ends up at UT. Possibly a less stable situation than LSU. Pruitt won’t be there in 2022.

But he has mental issues, which obviously were caused by LSU and we're not supposed to talk about him in any kind of negative way. Yet he enters the portal and may end up at another SEC school. Yep, that'll solve his mental issues.

I seem to remember at some point during the season Gilbert didn't think he was involved enough in the offense, if I'm wrong about that please correct me.

That was made up as an excuse for why he sat out. There was no truth to it.

He was the teams leading receiver after Marshall opted out. He definitely was hurt as Johnson and Finley were having their struggles but you can’t argue he wasn’t a key part of the offense. He screwed himself out of another 10-15 catches by not playing in the last two games.

Transferring in-conference needs to blocked like the old days. If he wants to go home there GT actually in atlanta....hopefully he just stays put though

What struggles did Max Johnson have exactly? Finley was the one who struggled. Johnson was coming in to try to clean up the mess after Finley led the LSU team to one loss after another. Johnson’s first start was at Florida and then vs Ole Miss which both were wins after good performances by Johnson.
I have nothing against Finley but there is no comparison between Johnson’s and Finley’s performances on the field.

If that is true he must truly be bipolar.
Tennessee will be the next team to fire their coach.

Agreed. To be honest we do not know how the coaches view this situation with Gilbert or what the root cause of all this is. The fact is that he walked off and quit on the team before the two best games of the year. I don’t know how the players who stayed feel about all this bs either. Once you quit on your teammates there will be some friction with the guys who rode it out. No doubt about it.

He’s going to need to get his completion percentage way up for starters. The difference between Johnson and Finley was turnovers. Max is far from a proven commodity. If you can’t admit he struggled at times during the 2020 season then I’d suggest watching a different sport because you’re clueless. He’s a true freshmen.

He is dealing with his mental health, yes. And good for him because it’s a serious thing a lot bigger than football. He had to be admitted in an inpatient stay, this isn’t mild anxiety we’re talking about.

Did anyone claim this?

Pretty sad people behave like this on here about an 18 year old going through something like this. You’re the ones acting like children.

Neither of which has happened.

Being closer to home, with a close friend, and away from a program who’s fans and former players threw you under a bus for something they knew nothing about. Can you blame him? Orgeron body soreness comment was epically pitiful PR. Thankfully all the former players deleted comments or backtracked when they found out the truth, wish our fans would follow suit.

Good luck to Arik in whatever he chooses, hopefully it’s us. If not, Tennessee seems great as he’ll haunt Bama and not us.

If he doesn’t want to block, then he’s just a bigger slower receiver. At that point, I’d take a Thomas Jr over him in that spot since you gain speed and agility and don’t lose much or any blocking. Not to mention the improvement in the lockerroom that comes from removing a guy that doesn’t want to do what the coaches are asking.

Jesus

You people have no idea if he “doesn’t want to block” and even if he just lined up at WR we’re still talking about a freak of nature and mismatch for any defense. Maybe he’s just learning how to block? He’s a freshman.

You are just one of the “Finley No Matter What” crowd. You are wrong about Finley’s limitations. His accuracy on slants and passes in the flat are major concerns. Receivers have to stop their routes to catch Finley’s passes on short and crossing routes which severely limit their production. This is not the case with Johnson. Johnson is far ahead of Finley as a leader and as a QB. Look at how the team moves under Johnson vs Finley and if you don’t acknowledge this then you are just a Finley supporter over what is best for the team. Period.
