Kansas is going to sign him now and just take the risk on his eligibility. LSU wanted him, but were going to wait until January/Feburary to see where he was academic wise.
At the end of the day Kansas could afford to take the risk, and there was no real reason for LSU to.

honestly, after we sign Cherry and (hopefully) Marshall tomorrow, with 4 spots left, I hope we finish with Surtain, Joseph, Goodrich, and Chase or Watkins. Hopefully we can get a waiver for the kicker so we have room for Joiner, but I don't think he is a game changing RB or anything like that so why turn down 4 players with elite type potential?

The kicker is a graduate transfer. Does not count against the 25 limit just against 85 overall.

Saw his post state title game interview and seemed reasonably well spoken. He seemed like a thoughtful young man who was aware he had some academic work to do.
What really stood out was shortly after losing the championship game he was poised and respectful with the interviewer, repeatedly stated yes , sir and no,sir.
Wish this talented athlete well wherever he lands.

Not sure why it's yet to be determined. They had an article out that clearly said he won't count against the 25.
