Lets see, had the last drive to win the game. He ran for 1 TD and Passed for 2 in the game. The Ceaser kid from EFHS caught both of his TD passes.
For the Black Knights #15 Deshawn Morrison had 3 TD runs.
Might want to watch the game tonight. Really was a good game, had a bunch of people in the stands on both sides of the field.

Past Red Stick Bowls were broadcast on TV live. Why wasn't the 2010 version? The '07 game was boring at 20-0, but the '08 22-20 game and the '09 big Rough Rider comback to win 33-31 were very entertaining. They always name 4 MVP's - two players on both teams...1 for O and 1 for D. EFHS was certainly well represented this year. Look forward to watching!

Close game. :04 left in the game for the final score.
Kicker Justin Manton (St. Amant) had a good game. Kicks well.
John Keller (McKinley) had an Int.
The final play of the game, Michael Early (Denham Sp.) had an INT.
Quincy Jones (Not the other one, from White Castle) also had an INT.
Joseph Robinson (EFHS) had some nice runs.

Because it was a Baton Rouge bowl, not the All American Game. Good luck to him at Northwestern. Hope he has a great career.

Dude, love the pic of that famous end zone dive in '97 vs. FLorida. Still have the SI issue with a picture of that play...a classic!!

I did not know...pretty cool. Is Tommy still local or off somewhere? I went to 2 LSU games that year (lived in NY) and that was one. Just a classic. He had a great career at LSU and that pic freezes him in time in a way!

I was able to get him on my computer. Giving game ball now. Very exciting. Lucky that ball to the goal line didn't get picked though right before the TD pass.

The Redstick bowl was great this year and seems to be getting better each year. We decided to change the venue from Olympia due to the poor conditions on that field after rain. Last year we were concerned a player would get hurt with the huge ruts and potentially hurt their chances of college offers. This year with location on turf at PBS, I talked with several players, coaches, fans and all agreed it was a much more favorable venue. Next year, we are planning to possibly use Denham Springs, Zachary, PBS again, or the Louisiana Leadership Institute facilities.
As for the game itself, it was a classic just like last year...down to the wire. Standout players were Catholic's Oliver (huge upside on this kid) who is commited to Northwestern in Chicago; Tekemian Ceaser (EFHS)who caught go-ahead game winning TD from Oliver; Devin Payne from Port Allen is a freak of an athlete and can be used in multiple positions (voted MVP for the Black Knights). Oliver was the MVP for Rough Riders. Side note- if you have not paid attention to EFHS, you are missing out. This team was well represented at the bowl and the EFHS roster is stacked with talent.
Academically, there were some standouts also on the rosters. Notably, Monk from U.High scored a perfect 2400 on SAT, 35 of 36 on ACT, and 5.0 GPA; being recruited by Vandy.
As the US Army representative in charge of the bowl game production, it was an honor to have several combat veterans in attendance. During halftime, several local Future Soldiers swore the oath of enlistment mid-field. These are the young men and women who have committed to serving and are waiting for training dates.

God bless you and everyone in the Army. The Army has done a wonderful job running the Red Stick bowl and all the related festivities, recognition events, etc. You are right about EFHS...they are loaded, and it is shocking that someone can "ace" the SAT. The week of the game, the lead-up and the game are provde great memories that these boys will have forever. By the way, the portion of the creed you quote should send chills and pride up anyone's spine. Thanks!!!!

I knew something was up. I went out there the other day to check out some of the kids. A lot of the top recruits that were suppose to be there didn't even show up. The parents were complaining how unorganized the event was and how they felt like they were being ripped off. The kids had to pay for $40 t-shirts. Many of the local kids felt jipped because they were not staying at the hotel, they were not eating the food at the event( he gave the kids McDonalds and cokes before a practice), and they were not riding the transportation provided but they still had to pay the same fee as the other kids. It just didn't seem right. The reports explain everything.
