What makes you think he doesn't have more potential than Hurts? What about him on film screams he's a Hurts clone? I would hope LSU is recruiting both and can somehow land both. It would be an amazing problem to have.
Uhm...for me, I watched his junior season highlight film a bunch of times. As it is about 75 percent of him running the ball and about 25 percent of him passing the ball. On the passing part, his pocket presences and his throwing motions are about as raw as it gets and in which explains his piss poor 56 percent passing completion rate. Now on the running portion, he looks very similar to Jalen Hurt.
Now, if he still wants to commit to LSU after Nuss commits, I still would like LSU to take him if he commits, but not so much cause I think he can beat out Nuss. Cause I don't think that he can. However, to me, it would still be worth taking him because of the additional players he could help to attract to LSU.
Nonetheless, that doesn't mean I don't think that he is very overrated cause I do. Now that said, maybe his receivers in high school were crap and maybe he tore up in camps. I don't know that. As all, I can go by is from what I have seen in his highlight video.

oh shutup, there is a reason Williams is so highly rated compared to Nuss.... Nuss isn't a championship QB, I guarantee he won't ever start here.
This is all you need to read to see what kind of player Williams is.
From 247 Evaluation
[Good but not elite size. Carries 209 pounds look like 190. Dynamic athlete who can devastate defenses with his arm or legs. Great competitor with high intangibles. Natural leader and makes big plays. Strong, accurate arm. Tight release. Can throw 15-yard out, has touch on intermediate throws and throws pretty deep ball. Gets through progressions. Can throw ball 70 yards. Moves well in pocket. Plays poised and relaxed in stressful situations. Has elusiveness in open field. Needs more experience and improve accuracy when throwing on move. Elite quarterback who can play early for top-level team. First round NFL draft potential.]

Lol ok you probably said the same thing when LSU got Burrow. Listen give me a QB that throws 70% completion rate over a guy who completes under 50% every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

oh shutup,
Go watch Caleb Williams' shitty junior highlight video. I admit he can run well, but other than that, he is a very average QB. As his pocket presence and throwing motion are both raw as hell.
Then go watch the junior highlight video of Garrett Nussmeier. Nussmeier's pocket presence is excellent, his throws from the pocket are excellent and his throws on the run are excellent. In other words, Nussmeier is a far more polished QB relative to Williams.
Furthermore, it's hard for me to believe that someone who threw for only 19 touchdowns in 2019 and had only a 56 percent passing completion rate can be ranked the number 5 player on the 247 sports composite rankings. As I smell a rat.
Meanwhile, Nussmeier threw for a much more impressive 38 touchdowns with a much more healthier 67 percent passing completion rate, but yet is ranked lower.
LSU doesn't need a QB who can run the ball. Instead, LSU needs a QB who can throw the ball to the playmakers out in space and when it comes to that, Nussmeier is far better relative to Williams. As you obviously don't have the first freaking clue what you are talking about. Indeed, you are obviously just a damn stargazer
Furthermore, when Nussmeier was asked what the LSU coaches are telling him. He said the LSU coaches are telling him that he looks a lot like Joe Burrow, and that's exactly what I see too.
Plus, your idiotic guarantee isn't worth the bandwidth it is wasting.

These replies are getting really lengthy...
But I guess when you have nothing to do you can read all of it..

I agree Nuss is much better fit for what we got going at the present time. Much better pure passer than anyone else this cycle.

None of those guys sitting next to Burrow nearly won a heisman. Hurts might have been in New York but he was nowhere close to winning that heisman lol.

By definition, he was next in line to receive it after Burrow. Burrow won it in stride, but let's not pretend that was solidified until towards the end of the season.

All signs point to Nuss being our QB in this class

Hurts was the difference when he was leading an extremely talented team, Alabama, when they beat LSU. He wasn't so impressive when leading a lesser talented Oklahoma team.
His best year of his career was with Oklahoma, are you basing your whole opinion on the LSU game or something?

Nuss needs a hair cut just like JB when he first got to LSU.

No, he was the difference in the LSU Alabama game a couple years ago.
He has had a good career, when playing against less talented defenses.
Fact: Throughout his college career he has played on teams with vastly superior talent than the opponent.
None of the recent Oklahoma teams, with Heisman Trophy QBs could match the best SEC teams.

So here is my take. Elite QBs are groomed from an early age- it takes years of tutoring and tons of cash to develop. A few years ago I saw an article with a SJW twist about how this the case and how it was contributing to the fact that promising QBs from poorer backgrounds were at a disadvantage and this was why there are fewer elite African American QBs in college as a percentage of high school QBs than would be expected.
Anyway, I think a real contributor to those years of grooming can also be as the son of a coach and all of the built in advantages that brings you. Joe Burrow fits that mold and I think Max Johnson does as well.
Caleb Williams goes to one of the most elite schools in DC so either his family has the money or someone is helping him out, which has gotten him to where he is now. Brennan's family has the funds from the restaurants. Nuss seems to fall into both camps which I can't help but like.
That's not to say it's only money- the individual needs the drive, physical and mental ability and tools. But I think Nuss is getting it both from the nature and nurture sides.

Brett Farve, Archie Manning, Terry Bradshaw, and many other Hall of Fame QBs wreck your scenario.
I will agree, if you have the mental and physical ability, coaching is necessary to refine the talent.
