UNT not releasing Odoh to LSU is damn near unethical in my mind.
We don't play in their conference. They signed another player already to take Odoh's spot. Where is the rub?

Yes they can, but usually the school changes their mind and give players an unrestricted release.
Most recently Derek Dooley restricted a kids release only to change his mind and give unrestricted release.
Usually it's restricted to teams within the conference. This situation seems petty. Since a player usually commits to a coach just as much as the school. When they have a change in staff they should be fully released.

So they could switch to unrestricted?...this looks really juvenile

Yes in some cases they change their mind. Randy Edsall @ Maryland is another case of restricting a guys release and then going back and changing his mind.
Most recently with one of their QB's.

Didn't Miss St. get away with restricting the Gray from any SEC schools?
Posted on 5/8/12 at 8:33 pm to PortCityMadMan
Yes. Conference restrictions are usually not fought, although they can be. It's really up to the player whether to push it or not. If the school they want is not restricted, you never hear much about it.

Not sure, but Odoh can appeal his restricted release to UNT.
First he would meet with the director of baseketball operations (whoever that is) ....if they don't approve the he moves on to meet with their Athletic director to appeal.....if that party doesn't approve a unrestricted release then he will meet with the athletic board to appeal.
If he wants to go through that of course. Similar situation was going on at Wisconsin.

So I wonder how long before we hear about an appeal...thats if theres mutual interest, but one would easily assume there is

I would be very surprised that after appealed he wouldn't be given the ability to go to LSU unless there was some type of tampering.

The Wisconsin kid was aided by the national media picking up on the story as well. Likely if media picked up on Odoh UNT would back down and let him do whatever he wanted.

We need emails of the AD and school president posted and get our local media on the story.

A little bad pub will make them crawfish out of this restriction. Can't believe they tried to pull this (unless they felt slighted by Jones trying to get him before he asked for his release).

Schools usually get ripped for not allowing kids to transfer to out of conference schools where the previous coach went. Neither of us are exactly big names in basketball though, but we'll see if it holds up. It's total BS in any situation, if the school isn't on your future schedule in his eligibility period then it should be fair game.

Email the story to the national guys(Pat Forde, Jeff Goodman, Andy Katz, etc). They've been complaining about coaches holding these dudes hostage since the season ended.

haha wait are we even sure that LSU wants Odoh?? I mean, for a fact? I guess there is no way of knowing, but it'd be silly to start an e-mail campaign about something we are 100% sure is factual.

Johnny and staff recruited him to N Tx, why wouldnt we want him here?
Posted on 5/8/12 at 10:10 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
A coach is not holding him hostage fwiw, it's not like wisconson's coach who told a kid he couldn't transfer to the B10, B12, or any school near his home or something like that.
