I vaguely remember a kid years ago being nervous at his commitment event and stated he’d be spending his next 3/4 years at The University of LSU. Anyone recall who he was and what happened to him. I figured someone on TD would recal!

They use it for suspense. Lots of schools have Univeristy of ___. They use it to draw it out.

It’s almost always a five star recruit saying it so The University of LSU is a perfectly acceptable thing to say.

It was when that infamous 5 for 5 day was falling apart. Everyone was about to have a heart attack because they didn't know what was coming after the "University of".
That was the day I did myself a favor and quit paying so much attention to announcement ceremonies and especially those all-star games. I got nothing but aggravation out of them.
