The state champion was 27-1 as a starter for the Cubs.

This LSU fan can only express gratitude and excitement for this decision!

G. McKernan Sr is a good man, he is ingrained and invested in the LSU/Baton Rouge culture!!

Hallelujah!

He can throw practice balls I’m in. But if he really wants to play he should go elsewhere.

He looks like the villain in an 80s kids movie.

He will probably be ahead of Brennan on the depth chart next year.

Looks like LSU will get it done next year but I wonder how Dudley and DeBosier will feel about this?

U-High QB John Gordon McKernan

Very accurate, doesn't panic, good arm strength (could get a little better) goes through progressions and sees field very good. This is a very good pick-up considering he is a Walk-on. With a couple years in the system and some weight training I can see this kid competing for a QB position. Maybe not to start, but definitely for a back-up role.

With Derek running our program, Gordon could realistically buy a starting job for JG.

I mean I’m happy for him. But does he just want to be a walk on/practice squad guy? Surely he could get on at a smaller school and play. I’ll look up his offer list since you want to call me an a-hole

ETA: Shows two offers per 247. Arkansas-Monticello and Southern. Maybe he would rather just be a walk on and attend LSU that’s great. I was speaking only about actually playing time for LSU.

Then be happy for him.. PERIOD.

Obviously you were never recruited so you don't know the game. Let me explain it to you. Some athletes would rather walk on at a larger school than take the smaller school offer. It happens all the time. He is fully aware of what his options were and chose to come to LSU and learn. He will have world class facilities to train in and world class coaches to learn from. Perhaps he wants to be a coach someday? Maybe it's just being able to say "I'm a QB at LSU". Imagine the tang.

You act like LSU just allows anyone to walk on. You do know this isn't true right? You do know that LSU needs QB's on the roster to throw drills and such? I mean, this could go on forever. But trust me, he knows exactly the situation.

I got a full scholarship to a smaller school. If I could have afforded to, I would have killed to walk on at a premier program to be near those level of athletes and coaches.
