A friend texted me and said that Listi is kicking the ball out of the endzone and made a 51 yarder in the Sportsman Bowl today. Does anyone know anything about him?

He kicked at STM

Yeah, he played at STM.

Pretty sure that in high school, where they kickoff from a different yard line than in college, he can kick the kickoffs through the endzone and he also made a 51 yard field goal today.

awesome. Will he be a legit full time kicker if he walks on to us?

he will be on the team....I think there are a number of scholarship kickers on the team as well...

as an invited walk on, he'll have a chance to work his way up the depth chart and earn a scholarship....

if he does well he will be. remember colt david was a walk-on.Josh Jasper will do most of kicking in 2009 fg/ kick offs. and punting is up in the air.

That 51 yarder was against a strong cross wind too.

I was there, off the ground but STM has field turf.

Drew Alleman from Acadiana is still a preferred walk-on as well. Plenty of kicking competition with the new punter and the returning Jr's.

What exactly is a "preferred walk on"? I assume they get first shot at a scholly if one comes available, but I could be wrong.

Tyler Listi (All-State P/K from STM) is a legitimate kicker at the D-1 level. He has a tremendous work ethic, and the upside for Tyler is huge. I would not be surprised at all to see him on the field next year.

No, it just means that they don't have to try out to walk on.

Its a shame that we have burned as many schollys as we have on kickers. How many do we actually have on roster? The saddest part is that the best 2 Alleman and Listi are walk ons.
