I think the way he works ,there is no way he isn't starting by the end of the year.

the kid works his arse off and wants it.

BTW, does anyone have a link to TQ's video of one on one drills with 5 star DBs from this past week. I'd like to see that again.

Yeah I would love to see that too

Very impressive. Really just got a bit of separation, used his hands, feet and body like a polished NCAA WR. Reminded me of a shorter Ed McCaffrey.

Christian McCaffrey will be a stud too.

"Starter from day 1" come on guys...... He will hopefully get a decent amount of snaps but I wouldn't expect any more than 15-20 rec out of him next year. Probably a starter later in his career. Next year I think Diarse probably gets the nod over him in the slot. Gonna have Dural, Leslie, Spears, Peterson, (and hope to good Dupre) on the outside. He's great and all but Speedy is a better WR than him. As someone responded to me yesterday said, the one thing Quinn definitely has going for him is that he has only played WR so he knows the position really well as opposed to just being a sick athlete who we think would turn into a good WR

I've noticed in a couple of threads you're quick to prop up Speedy's "greatness" and downgrade Quinn's... how many times have you seen Quinn play? No doubt Speedy is electric, but the guy who is generally considered the most polished route runner with great hands doesn't stand much of a chance to make an impact till late in his career?

I always respond to the weekly version of this thread cause it aggravates me for two reasons:

1)responses like "We get. He's white" aggravate me and could not be farther from the truth. Has nothing to do with skin color

2)responses similar to you when you said I was downgrading Quinn's greatness. This is also not true. IMO, in the opinion of everyone outside of LA, in the opinion of people who evaluate this stuff for a living, he is not the best WR in this class. Does that mean I don't think he's good? No, he's great, and I'm pumped to have him. Are there other guys who I think are better and willhave better careers, yes. But just cause i don't agree with the "he should be a 5*" and "id rather him than any other WR" stuff, apparently that makes me retarded and the bad guy that hates Trey Quinn.

But to answer your question, I have watched both their films and have seen them each play once in person. Speedy had a great game the time I saw him. In the state championship game against rummel a couple years ago Quinn did not have a good game. Quinn will play early on, and certainly have an impact. But I don't think he will put up major numbers in his freshman season, and maybe not even sophmore year. That's not even a knock on him though. What did Reuben randle do his freshman year? Not much. I am just mainly against the notion the recruiting board has of "that guy will start next year". Every year the new guy can't start, and at LSU he rarely does. Playing time sure, but not start.

Speedy didn't want to compete with him.

I'm looking forward to the next 4 years.

I may stick my neck out and say Trey will stay 4 years, even though he may be able to leave after 3.

I'll be shocked to see him start as a true frosh but expect him to slowly work into the rotation.

This. People love to dismiss the guys we already have who have been working in the system a year or longer.

I, too, would rather him, then Speedy.
I honestly think speedy made the right decision for himself. Cam Cameron's/miles's offenses have never featured a slot receiver that I can recall. Sumlin's does, and does well. Look at what swope did there in just one season with that offense. Quinn and Dupre are a better fit here, speedy is a much better fit there. It would be kinda like a tyrone swoopes coming here. He would have some packages, and would get 5 or 6 touches a game, but would never be an integral part of the offense here. Speedy's role in sumlins offense has a chance to be like tavon austin's at WV. I just wish we didnt have to play him...

I can't argue with that. (I HATE that I can't argue with that!!)

Having Ellis over there, even if Ellis Sr was not in anyone's ear, made the decision easier. Speedy is just one of those we couldn't win. We didn't lose him, we just didn't win him.
