Maddux rarely was clocked above 92. Greg’s ability to ‘steer’ the baseball to all four corners of the strike zone with pinpoint accuracy with 3 different pitched from the exact same arm lsot and delivery is what made him unhittable.

Cool.

But he still had above MLB average velocity for a large part of his career.

I'd say the most likely starters look like Eyanson, Cowan, Hayden, and Mayers.

Dorsey for sure a reliever...possibly closer. Sheeran probably starts as a reliever, as does Benge.

Just my 2 cents

Shores will for sure be 1/3 of the rotation. Honestly I expect a herring-like sophomore yr jump from Anderson as well but likely from a starter role instead of ace reliever

Where do you slot Shores and Herring if he comes back?

There will be a lot of starting pitcher options. Jay will give them the opportunity to earn it in the fall and Spring. I believe it starts with Herring, if he comes back, Anderson, and Shores, if he returns to his freshman form and can throw strikes. The next group is the ones you list in Evanston, Meyers, Cowan, and Hayden.

I answered the question based on the 7 portal guys. Shores and Noot are wild cards for me until I see them throw in the fall and spring.

Obviously, everyone wants Shores back and better than ever. He could absolutely be a Friday or Saturday starter, but he may not start the season that way.

Herring has starter stuff, and if he comes back I suspect he would be given a weekend starting role to start the season.

I haven't seen Noot throw a single pitch yet.

Maddux relied on his command, composure, and guile to outwit hitters. Though his fastball touched 93 mph in his early years,[38] his velocity steadily declined throughout his career, and was never his principal focus as a pitcher. By the end of his career, his fastball averaged less than 86 mph.

I won't, because I'm not.

You can keep posting his velo without the context of what everyone else was throwing though. It's meaningless.

For a large portion of his career, Maddux had above average velocity.

In Maddux years 90 MPH was bringing it. Also his control and movement on pitches was unhittable. I agree with you .
