This class has a lot of 2-3 year’s eligibility players on it

Transfers are going to be a consistent thing every year due to the rule put in place. Get used to it.

A quick count, I see 20 players that have transferred in from other colleges. That’s right at a full recruiting class. Every place Kelly has been, he’s built a roster, he knows what he wants and gets it to that point. The 85 number, just get there, don’t care how you do it. Last year, the RB room was a weakness, now, look at the number we have. Much can be said with OL, WR and TE’s. It’s been a plug and play offseason. They have a better roster, by far than this time last year.

I think it's fine to get to a point that you've recruited and developed young players on your roster to a level where you can bring in 3-5 quality transfers each year, preferably with more than one year to play.

What you can't do is load up with 14 or 15 transfers each year. With what he inherited, Brian Kelly really had no choice this year or last year, but it can't be an every-year thing, or it will hurt the high school recruiting, which is the foundation.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if schools are using our transfer numbers against us this year on the recruiting trail, telling kids that LSU will just bring in transfers to play in front of them if they go to LSU.

Like I said, Kelly had no choice last year and this year, but it will bite you if you try to do it every year, but I trust that Brian Kelly will reduce the transfer numbers going forward. It just might hurt us with a few recruits in the present. That can't be avoided.

Like you said, BK had no choice. In a perfect world the depth chart is stacked with big time recruits and there is no room for transfers. But even before free agency started in college football there was attrition every year. So many big time 4 and 5 star recruits came in and then vanished after a year or two. Now BK can bring in plug and play guys to replace the wash outs.

Ideally LSU can operate like good NFL franchises do. Build the core roster through the draft (HS recruiting) and supplement through free agency (the portal). Year to year they can plug holes with guys who want to be at LSU and can make an immediate impact.

Bingo. Right now, it’s fill the roster, try to add depth. He’s played the cards dealt.
Think about this one. 306 days before we beat Alabama this past season. We had 39 scholarship players in a bowl game, with a WR playing QB.

The best rule change they made is where a player can now play in a bowl game and not lose his redshirt status. If this rule had been in place the previous year then Nuss could have played.

Agree, but just a year late!

I understand what BK has been saying but recruiting is a two prong thing now. Transfers and traditional signings are here to stay. Remember, we are going to lose people as well as get people into LSU.

That wouldn’t give some folks a chance to complain. You will always have those that like to complain, it’s in their nature. They are not happy unless they are unhappy.

Even December ain't long enough.

The last day to enter the portal and be eligible for fall 2024 is somewhere in the middle of May.

We've got a full 10 months before the 2024 class is finalized.

Definitely a solid transfer class when they don't mention Duce Chestnut (Freshman All-American in 2021 and All-ACC in 2021 and 2022) and former 5 star recruit Aaron Anderson.

I agree, Polian seems to be missed greatly...
