a lot of kids moved after katrina. Catholic league isn't what it used to be. Still strong though, but not as dominant as it used to be.

it wasnt really that down

Jesuit made it to the finals

Brother Martin had a great year..didnt do well in the playoffs. 4-5 players signed D-1 schollies

Rummel was down...their top 2 starters were hurt most of the year and never recovered...but the talent didnt really match up to years past there.

I'm pretty sure I know who he is then. He hasn't shown his face around another site since the baseball turn around because he ran his mouth so much about how bad Mainieri and the team sucked.

Rittiner is a Kyle Beerbohm clone. Saw him pitch again this past Saturday against Holy Cross, he has never hit upper 80s in his life. He sat at around 80mph the entire game.
Except that Kyle went to Delgado and Rittiner is going to LSU.

LE i wasn't referring to just baseball was looking at the league as a whole. I know we always dominated in baseball and wrestling, and between St. Aug, Jesuit, and Brother Martin with DJ Augustine they were ripping up basketball. CL just doesn't seem to be in the headlines much of the other sports. I could be wrong though seeing as I don't live in NOLA anymore. When was the last time a catholic league team won state in football? I really can't remember?

easily

he's at St Martin's now and he turned them around already in 1 year. They were one of the best teams in 1A this past year. And they are stacked next year for 1A standards.

Baudry couldnt never get over the hump at Shaw. At least in prep season. He seems to be the same at Rummel. Though Cazeaux had trouble winning it all with some REALY REALY good teams in the early 2000's.

Neither can i. Maybe Shaw in the 80s. I thought you were speaking of baseball.

Though in football they have been on the verge lately(Rummel has been to the Semis 3 times this century. 0-3) Shaw played in the title game in 98 i think.

Basketball has dominated 5A for a while though the last 15-20 years

I think that's right. Shaw was probably the last team while they were still in the league. I know Rummel and Jesuit were in semis and quarters a few times. Jesuit's kryptonite was Catholic High. Got some tough "breaks" in those games. NWLA is running state football right now on the 5A level.

nah dude, not anymore.

the last 2 5A champs are South LA teams, Destrehan and Acadiana.

and 3 out of the last 5 are from South LA(the 2 above and Hahnville.)

West Monroe and Evangel each have one in that period.

West Monroe is the only team of note. They havent made it out of the 2nd round the last 2 years.

The last 2 years, the all final Semi Final teams were from South LA.

Now that ECA is out of 5A, it is pretty wide open.

I did forget about Acadiana. I kept thinking Bastrop, but they aren't 5A. I totally forgot Jesuit was undefeated in 04 before losing in the quarters or semis to Perriloux and ESJ.

Saw him throw in the 5A State Championships and was impressed by him more than any other pitcher there.....

Very good pickup and like many have said, a program guy.

+ he's a lefty and battles hard.....

Back when Broach was dominant, he has lost some velocity since then, and struggled this year at tulane.
Back to the commit, Rittiner definitely needs to improve his velocity he's usually around low to mid 80's. Kinda surprised he commited to us though.
