I don't follow recruiting as much as I once used to, besides holding onto Chris Curry who's realistically left besides Harold Joiner?

If worst comes to worst will they try to convert someone into that role?

It's Harold Joiner or bust at this point.

And Bama is pressing hard for him.

I would not take a 3rd running back in this class with the needs that are obvious on the oline and dline.

I would not take a second te either.

2 OT
2 DL
2 WR
2 CB

This gets you to eight.
Some say we have 8 scholarships left. Some say 9. I do not know.

We'll find the way to have an extra scholarship - we always have. Heck, just McMillan transferring (which seems likely now) is 1 right there.

Why do people always forget the annual limit? Transfers open up a spot in the overall limit of 85, but do nothing to help the annual maximum.

The reference to eight or nine left is to the annual cap, not the roster maximum.

I'm not - I thought the question was about bumping up against the total. How can there be much confusion about how many new counts we will have?

How many are committed? What is the annual limit? Subtract the first from the second.

Sorry to have confused things.

The problem and confusion come from early enrollees and backcounts. I'm sure the staff knows, but nobody else seems to ever know.

With all the transfers we should be able to take 40 this class

I agree the math is still wizardry - like a simplified version of capology for the pros.

Austin Thomas probably knows.

That kid should be the next AD.

With the OLine performance on Saturday, we might want to think of recruiting some big uglies first. Can't run if you don't have blockers.

We don't have an SEC quality starter after Guice. Top flight RB is priority #1

So I guess having NFL RB's year after year doesn't help getting blue chip RB's after all

Right. We have two committed right now. Curry and Provens. That adds depth.

But there is probably nobody "elite" that we have a shot with and everyone who throws out that we need to sign a stud always forgets to tell us WHICH stud we should be looking at. By all accounts it's been a down couple of years for running backs.

Missing on Akers hurt. Also, even though I wasn't very high on Ettienne, it looks like he's the real deal and might actually be better than Akers and CEH. So the strategy that this staff and the former staff used (not offering him until December 2016, after we missed on Akers) in his recruiting appears to have been a poor one.

Yeah we should have got in on him early like Clemson did.
