Stars don't matter in the NFL. In college they sure do, but like it was said earlier it matters in key positions.

Stars are at best an indicator. Nothing more. 5 star players can bust just like 3 stars can rise to the top.

Josh Loved LSU his whole life. School colors at The Kincaid school are purple and gold. Only been a school that has been on recruiting services radar for a few years because it’s such a small school (PreK-12 1,400 students total).

More known for academics and high profile rich and influential people.
The Bushes, James Baker and other high profile graduates.
His family must be well-off

UGA, Bama, and OSU have crushed 4 and 5 stars over the years. When you stack classes like this you win. A 5 star that goes to Maryland or Arky will produce, but as a team won't see as much success.

Stars do matter.

But, the recruiting services are lousy at evaluating QBs and OL. With offensive line, that's understandable because you are projecting the maturation of 16 and 17 year olds. That's why every school stacks linemen in their classes. Some will pan out, some won't.

With QBs, there is a complete over emphasis on measurables. The recruiting services absolutely love the guys who are 6-3 to 6-5. They also get bamboozled by the QB trainers. And so you have "can't miss" prospects like Blake Barnett, Gunner Kiel, Max Browne, Ricky Town, Hunter Johnson - the list goes on and on. Meanwhile, 3 stars like Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Josh Allen and even unrated guys like Daniel Jones end up crushing it.

If they love QBs who are 6' 3" - 6' 5" so much, how come they rated Tua and Bryce Young and (I could go on and on) so highly?

So who identified Mason Taylor? Everyone?
