I’m actually concerned with the lack of elite talent. It seems LSU can never break that barrier and recruit with UGA, Bama, Ohio State, etc.
I think it's the opposite. We can compete on the elite talent scale, it's the depth that did us in against Georgia. We were worn down by the end of the year, they could rotate on the lines and that killed us.

To me, you need a few "difference makers" in each class along with a bunch of very solid guys.
Guys like Perkins, Maason, M Taylor, Will C come to mind immediately. The "difference makers" could also be called "game changers", and are a requirement in each class IMHO.

Recall Mason Taylor being a three star recruit, but playing a pivotal role for the Tigers last season and surely the upcoming two to three years. Trust Kelly and staff on their eye for talent and of course the development. Theyll continue to have those three star gems and they will land some sharks.
I took and looked up every TE ranked higher than Mason. Add all their catches, yards together, they don’t equal Masons totals for the year.
Kelly left a TE at ND, he was drafted, 35th player taken. What did he do this past season?
Mayer finished his career owning every Notre Dame receiving mark for a tight end, catching 180 passes for 2,099 yards and 18 touchdowns. Even more impressive is that Mayer did that in just three seasons, declaring for the NFL Draft after his junior season.
Mason has a good shot to do much of the same at LSU.

That’s a fact, not to mention the overall tight end room that’s there and those joining them in 2024. LSU is building a top tier crew in that regard and other positions as well. Kelly is building something substantial and swiftly.

We do get some "difference makers" in each class, we're just not getting as many as Alabama Georgia and Ohio State. Still I think this is shaping up to be a pretty solid class. When you add in how we do in the transfer portal we'll end up pretty good.
