Wow. With the amount of debate discussing the validity of pay sites lately, you would think that it was some kind of government mandate, like taxes. Kind of simple, if you dont believe in them, dont subscribe and dont buy into their info, right?

Jimmy Smith of NOLA has taken all the paid services to school this entire recruiting cycle, not just during the UAAA game.

People arent going to pay for flat out guessing.
Im not sure how anyone can make this more clear, but Thursdays failures weren't due to guessing. Certain recruits told different staffs different stories, and some staffs were misled.

you dont need the pay sites, I was a member of tigerbait for a while (years) and left the site about 3 or 4 years ago, and to be honest most of their stories break on Tigerdroppings about the same time.
Their inside information is about as good as a security guard at Tiger Stadium(which in turn in prob better than scikes)

What makes them paid is that you have an employee who's job it is to go where the recruits will be and ask them questions. They then report what they can.

Your not paying for answers, you're paying for someone to go talk to the recruits.

How so? He predicted Noil and Willis to LSU right up until about two hours before kickoff Thursday. He was wrong for months. He recently said he felt good about Kenny Young being part of this class. Mr Young seems to feel differently. Im not saying he hasn't done a good job, but asses he hasn't kicked.

victims. interesting thought.

they are kids. i think that people tend to forget that fact.

this is a huge and difficult decision for them. dealing with parents, coaches, recruiters, reporters, boosters (yes, boosters)

it is a very difficult, yet exciting, time for these kids. on top of it all, you have a group of people wanting to spoil to biggest announcement of their lives so that they can continue to profit off of subscriptions.

unfortunately, many of these kids and parents probably do not get enough guidance in how to handle so much attention. the want the attention but still want their privacy. in order to have their cake and eat it too, they lie to everyone. kid wins, recruiting services loses, subscribers lose. i actually applaud the kids on this one.

do you really blame them? they want their time to shine, and everyone is trying to steal their deserved spotlight for monetary gain

This is what its come down to in recruiting. The big name/high star kids that want the limelight will continue to seek out these recruiting services. Likewise, the recruiting services will run with ANY info they get, just so they can be the "first" to report it, no matter the validity.

There are a couple of people that have good sources on this site. Thursday can not be used as an example that no one has sources, or that they don't get good info. The UA game was brought upon by players who misled a lot of people.

Well LSU loses as well when the kids lie to the coaches I cheer for.

Lying to the media and lying to the coaches are two completely different things.

No one forces these kids to talk to jimmy, sonny, shea etc

at this point, i believe that is pure conjecture. until a coach is willing to put his name behind that statement, i will consider it a rumor.

Tony Brown is the only "5for5" recruit not to tell Wilson that morning that he's picking LSU.

Lol

So the kids lie to everyone willing to listen but are completely honest to the coaches?

You think insiders with connections to our coaches lie and say so and so told coach he was 100% in?

You think coaches would continue giving info to insiders if they lied about the kids and threw them under the bus like that if it weren't true?

not trying to be a punk, but has Wilson publicly stated this?

would you really want a kid on your team that would straight-faced lie on such an important situation?

Exactly. We have no way of knowing what was actually said to the coaches by the recruits, because the pay sites don't actually talk to the coaches, they talk to "sources close to the situation." That does not equate to sources in the situation. We don't know how much the story gets twisted before it's posted online.
