Obviously, this is going to be very different for many people, but in your opinion who are some of the recruits that "we have to have" over the years?? Whether we got them or not....my #1 all-time is Kevin Faulk.

I remember people absolutely freaking out about Brock Berlin. It was almost as if they would let Gerry D. stay on as long as he got Brock Berlin.

As far as fans freaking out, Berlin is probably second to Joe McKnight.

Clayton was big, but I know that he was a huge lean already....Faulk could have gone anywhere....DiNardo's first big time recruit...Also, josh Booty.....

Kevin Faulk, Marcus Spears, Chad Jones, Rueben Randle, and Anthony Johnson are the names that jump out at me first.

Although it turned out disastrously, this group has to include Ryan Perrilloux (sp?), USA Today's Player of the Year in Les Miles first recruiting class.

For "most hyped" I'd have to go with a 5-way tie:

Faulk
Booty
Berlin
Perrilloux
McKnight

Everybody always gets worked up over the RBs and QBs. Half of them don't pan out.

Joe McKnight was a must-have.

No way we should have let the #2 player in the nation leave Louisiana.

Damn you, Frank wilson.

"Must have" is a pretty high standard. I would say that it would only include:

Josh Booty
Kevin Faulk
Ryan Perrilloux
Zach Mettenberger

I didn't think of McKnight as "must have" since we were pretty solid at RB with Scott, Keiland, Ridley and Murphy all having at least 3 years of eligibility remaining. I remember thinking more along the lines of him coming back to haunt us than him be somebody we couldn't afford to let get away.
