This was the first year in a while that we haven't had any commits from Texas. Do yall see this as a result of A&M's recent emergence as well as their joining the SEC? Do any of you see this as a surprise/issue? I am not one of the ones who follows recruiting closely or at all, really. But I was wondering what yall's take on this is

Oh, it's this thread again. Becoming daily it seems.

Texas was down as a state this year. We signed 15 OOS guys. If the players were in Texas, we would have went there to get them.

Judging by the talent in Texas this year and the talent in Texas for 2014 the is definitely not an issue

Its a result of a down year for talent in the state of texas and we missed on rsj and a couple of others. The guys we get from texas are generally all lsu from a young age so not much to worry about imo.

It wasn't a strong year for TX talent, that's pretty much the explanation. We went hard after 2 guys - Parker, RSJ...and that's about it. After we lost Parker we didn't even recruit him anymore, but we continued to recruit RSJ after becoming and Aggie commit.

We will have a minimum 3 players from TX in 2014.

2013 was an anomaly. The 2014 class will prove that the LSU brand is still strong in TX.

I remember there was some talk about the 2014 Katy LB when Adam Taylor was discussed. Is he still on the radar/ Lsu caliber?

We will own TX in recruiting. LSU is the place to win championships.

Tashawn Bower is originally from Texas apparently. If that counts for anything...

Yeah people forget he lived in TX just a year ago. More of a Texan than Nebraskan.

Texas only signed 15 this yr and we still didnt take anyone from there? Is that a coincidence or a trend?
It is true that Texas had a down yr talent wise, but it is also true that A&M will be a new force to deal with in Texas. TCU and Baylor are also getting more and more 3-4 star guys that used to go elsewhere. Oklahoma will be hurt the worse but LSU will also lose out on a few that wouldve went here in the past because they wanted to play in the SEC. These same guys now can stay in state and still play in the SEC. Add into it JF and A&M will continue to lock up the states best talent that doesnt commit to Texas.
My vote is that this will be a trend for the near future and we will continue to reach further and further like this yr for the talent necessary to win the SEC West.

A&M will not have as big of a draw as everyone makes it out to be. A&M is looked down on in Texas, like the little brother. OU is hurt the most. UT will still get guys. TCU and Baylor are keeping more guys in state. LSU will still have a great connection in TX and win H2H battles with A&M.

As of right now, our only defensive commitment is CB Chris Hardeman from Hou, Tx.

And we will likely land Paris and Brown. TX recruiting is alive and well.

I can't wait until we land Paris/Brown so these threads will stop. Those two guys alone will inflate LSU's ranking.

FFS, we recruited all over the country this past class. We only recruited a couple Texas guys this past year...it wasn't as talent rich as it usually is.
