So you went to class everyday just to hang out with football players? You sad, sad little cleat chaser. I'm telling your brother and cousin because it's time for an intervention.

I also knew a few other people in the class.
Just let me brag about showing up to that one, damn!

First recruiting class was that 2009 class (my senior year in HS). First recruit I remember was Joe McKnight though.

Was supposed to be the greatest running back hall of all time. An epic unprecedented collection of elite running backs all in one class. Turned out none of them were very good other than Johnson who was adequate. Toomer eventually got a little pt at RB as well. Evaluations and projections of recruits by the 'experts' in those days was a whole lot more shaky.

The first class I followed closely was the Hilliard, James and Karl Bernard class. I really got into it the next year with the Michael Brooks / Toby Caston class. Those were my first years on campus and I've been following ever since.
It was much more fun in the old days. The pace of information was more appropriate for the recruiting process. The 24/7/365 coverage now gets lost in the noise.

Started following casually back in high school during the 1996 class. Remember being excited signing Craig Nall and Rohan Davey.
Dinardos class were Top 10-15 classes but then half the class would never enroll because of academics.
When rivals first came out in 2000, I really got into Saban's first class. I believe Saban's first commit was Randall Gay, and then at the end trying to pry Shyrone Carey from Tennessee while we hosted him during the weekend of the LSU vs Arizona game where Jabari Smith had the behind the back dunk. Also remember the Georgia/LSU battle for Devery Henderson. Also the surprise commitment from 4-star Adrian Mayes, who was a Nebraska commit.
We were furiously making a run for Derrick Cruddup a 4 star QB from Deerfield Beach, FL. (He ended committing to the U although he was a bust). The top 2 QB's in the nation Brock Berlin was already committed to UF and Jason Campbell to Auburn.
The 2001 class got me hooked to recruiting.i still consider that the GOAT class. They were the trailblazers that made coming to LSU cool. Also started this golden era.

In the mid '80s my Mom would drop me off at the Goodwood library in BR to study. I discovered stacks of Tiger Rag magazine. I recall reading about recruiting but I'ld be lying if I said I remembered an article on a specific player.
I think intense interest amongst LSU fans began with the media coverage of Kevin Faulk's recruitment.

Ryan Perriloux started my love of recruiting. Was great stealing him from Texas on signing day.
Would have nice to see him play.

2004 was the first time I started following. What an amazing class. The backbone of a championship team.

What class had Xavier Carter in it? It may have been Doucet and Dorseys class.... that was first one I followed closely. Thought Xavier Carter would have 20 rec TDs his freshman year....

2007 class was the first class I followed closely. Freshman in college and went watch Chad Jones play for Southern Lab. Dude was crazy good. I think Jimmy Clausen was the number 1 recruit that year.

Chad Jones was so awesome. I remember thinking he was going to be Landry 2.0
