The Fence is Still Up

Even with the pipeline to Tuscaloosa, the fence is still up around Louisiana.

With John Emery's commitment, I thought about in-state players, WHO LSU RECRUITED, that committed to other SEC schools in recent history. While Alabama has consistently pulled top talent from the state, I could only think of four other schools who have beat out LSU for LA talent:

Texas A&M- Speedy Noil
Auburn- Trovon Reed
Tennessee- Janzen Jackson (dad was brought on staff)
Florida- Gerald Willis

The fact that only Alabama has had success coming in the state is huge. Having said that, the fact that Emery has committed UGA is cause for a concern. Matt Moscona said this morning that it was better for LSU that Emery committed to UGA rather than commit to MS State. I disagree. LSU outclasses state. LSU doesn't out class UGA. LSU doesn't need to worry about State coming into LA and pulling top tier talent consistently. On the other hand, if UGA picks up some momentum in the state and is able to start their own pipeline, that's trouble. It's only a matter of time until Jimbo and Texas A&M is able to infiltrate the state.

In saying that, no reason for concern... yet. Hopefully, the two LA boys that committed to UGA doesn't materialize. Here's to hoping LSU can limit the competition on home soil to Nick Saban.

Disclaimer: This is not meant to be an indictment on the LSU staff.

So a fence with a big hole in it for a pipeline? Sounds concerning

Agree

Disagree. We still have 2 big fish to hook at the RB position. Sometimes depth in a recruiting class or on our roster dictates a kid look elsewhere. Not to mention sometimes they just want to go out of state. (Kardell Thomas mentioned that this morning on 104.5 about Emery not wanting to go to LSU)

I'm more concerned about Jimbo in the long run than I am Georgia building a pipeline

Tommy Robinson needs to be let go. He sucks at recruiting. He hasn't brought in a marquis running back yet and he has missed on every big name back he has gone after. I don't consider getting a commitment from a 3 star RB from Alabama (if it even happens) that has no offer from Bama or Auburn a recruiting accomplishment.

Tommy Robinson could not recruit at Texas and he can't recruit at LSU.

He didn't go to an SEC school and Chavis didn't recruit him, as he thought he was too fat.

If Tommie’s tryna woo RBs with a Mercury Marquis, then yeah, he needs to go.

Emery is a 5 star ranked as high as #2 RB in the country - that is a big loss

Terrible loss. I've said it since 2017, best back in the country by far.

yes that would be a horrific loss for O. A position of need and one of the best prospects in the nation in your backyard and Georgia taking him would be really bad for our recruiting guru head coach

He's right. You play State every year and it looks much worse losing a recruit to an upstart coach at MS that Kirby at GA who was playing for the title last year.

You people have some real loser attitudes. We've gotten some big time players from Georgia over the last several years. That apparently didn't destroy Georgia. This won't destroy us, especially considering Emery to Ga isn't a done deal yet. Let's see how those big time rb recruits at Ga do this year. Emery may realize he's going to be riding the pine at Ga.

Starting to wonder if anybody on this staff can recruit other than raymond. One of the highest paid staff's in the nation is not earning their money on the recruiting side.
