The way Texas has been playing and being coached I think we may be able to get 1 or 2 from them .... Don't understand how Mack Brown keeps his job ...

That may not last long! People at Texas won't put up with that for long. One more year to get it done. I don't think they will do anything with him after this year.

A BIG deal was made about how bad LSU and Miles were after their MNC season of "07 (7-5 and a bowl win). Texas, however, has been given a pass by the media and they didn't even have a winning season!

If Texas doesn't win the BIG 12 / 10 South next year Mack's seat will be hot.

the short term memory loss on this board is amazing.

Mack Brown doesn't have to answer to anyone; he is proven.

I can tell you how he does. He wins 10 games for 9 straight seasons, he wins a national championship, he goes to another one, he wins a rose bowl, he pulls in top 5 recruiting classes every single year, and he has turned UT into the most equitable athletic program in the entire nation, and by a large margin.

On the negative side, he has a grand total of two, count 'em two conference championships in that time frame.

There is a lot of meat on the bone for people who say he does less with more than any coach not named Bob Stoops.

As for Texas making money, does anyone want to suggest that Texas would make less money with a coach who won more?

Yep, but Texas has BIG money and their fans can get short term memory loss too; another poor season next year & Brown will be pushed to retirement like Fl. St. did to Bobby...

Mac is not proven...They were calling for his head before Vince Young came around...He got a 4-5 year pass because of Young/McCoy...He's back to his losing ways and will stay there until another great player pops up...Who knows, maybe baby brother McCoy will salvage his career again...He gets the absolute best recruits year end, year out, no argument...He should win 9-10 games every year in that weak conference...

That's pretty much understood. Texas has a down year (although not usually this bad) about every four years, then turns around and wins 10 games three years in a row.
Texas was in a bad way when he got there, and now they are THE power of the BigXII and a National Powerhouse program. He stays regardless of how bad a year he has. He may get rid of Davis to appease some people, but he doesn't have to.
