you also claim UT had the same amount of talent as LSU we'll take your word for it.
Well, in 2005, he had Justin Harrell, Tony McDaniel, Jesse Mahelona, Turk McBride, Omar Gaither, Jason Allen, Marvin Mitchell, Parys, Harrelson, and Jonathan Wade. That's nine players who were either drafted or signed as free agents. All except Mahelona are still playing, that doesn't count the years of Henderson, Haynesworth, Leonard Little, Al Wilson, Raynoch Thompson, Kevin Burnett, etc. The guy has HAD some talent..but that mustang will drive you bonkers.

Considering this is an LSU board, there's lots of chirping from a program that hasn't won the SEC in over a decade.
Living in Tennessee, there is NOTHING worse than a UT fan here. They have done nothing and only have that 1998 title continually talk about. STOP LIVING IN THE PAST!

NOTHING is funnier than a "cocky" UT fan.

My question is this...Why are you on a LSU posting multiple post about Chavis? Are you worried about something? How about a UNPROVEN HC coach and a state that produces the least amount of D-1 and NFL talent in the southeast? Can we call it Napoleonic Complex? I bet you still have one of those FADED 1998 National Championship license plates, dont you?

In response to the reply above..In the mid 90's there was only ONE really good coach in the SEC :Spurrier..Fulmer and Chavis would just line up and "OUT-ATHLETE" everybody else. Nick Saban exposed Fulmer and Chavis in the 2001 SECCG and it went down hill ever since.
Everybody in the SEC has a good coach..Kiffin is young but unproven, has a great staff though and they can recruit. The SEC of this decade isn't like the SEC of Old. Everybody in both divisions has a pretty decent coach...
I have nothing personally against Chavis but you LSU fans should see that how Saban and Miles found something that would work and Chavis wouldn't change. You will see as the season plays out.

He made Jay Cutler a first round pick because UT couldn't cover Earl Bennett with Inky Johnson..But Chavis wouldn't change and Cutler kept going to Bennett until it cost UT the game
Hot DAMN! Chavis is the almighty one who doles out first round draft pick status, that clears that mystery up. I'm guessing he had a hand in Stafford's selection as well?
I'm definitely going to walk on at Auburn ASAP so when we play LSU(Chavis FTW!!!) I can get my first round draft status and never have to work again, HELL YEA!!

No it wasn't...Had a losing season and got hammered by Florida, Georgia, Alabama, etc..Chavis used to pad his stats against Kentucky, Ole Miss and Vandy..he can't even do that anymore..Good luck
As far as the TAMPA 2..I've never seen db's playing 15 yards of the WR"S...Get used to it..you will see it soon.

Every time I see a post about the Mustang, I bring up the Tampa 2. While they aren't the same, they are very similar and have the same philosophy. It's not like UT will look like the Pittsburgh Steelers next year.
Also, I doubt that LSU is paying one of the best DB coaches in the country 300k a year to be a lackey and have no control over the players he is coaching.

Very TRUE!!
Also, perhaps UTENN CBs had to play that far off the ball because of lack of talent. I don't think that PP or Hawkins or Jai need to play off the ball at all.

I watched every game that Coach Chavis was defensive coordinator for The University of Tennessee..I don't know... I always thought Chavis was an extension of Fulmer.."He played not to lose"..Not to win"..maybe the change of scenery will do him good..Time will tell if he was a Fulmer puppet or not..We will know at the end of the season.

You get hammered bc your offense has been pathetic for much of this past decade.
For example, I watched the Alabama game last year. Your defense actually played very well, but it looks bad on paper bc your shitty offense can't get a first down and keeps going 3 and out.

Again, you've never seen the Tampa 2.
