Maybe a drop off in experience and the age of the players, but not in talent. Obviously we have 3 future pros at RB. A future pro at FB and three future pros at WR and a pro TE. I believe our entire OL will play pro and at least 3 out five will for sure. Now to the defense: On the DL, Tyson, Nevis, RJF, and Alem will be pros. The others are up in the air. Beckwith and Riley will be pros. Maybe Cutrera. Sheppard is just a Soph., so you never know. Secondary - PP, Chad Jones, and Hawkins will be pros. Eugene has a shot since he is just a soph. Hatcher and Brandon Taylor will more than likely be pros. Ridley and Brooks show a lot of potential on special teams and Phelon looked good for a freshman in the time he has played. So I do not see what some of you guys see.

It's not a drop off in talent but drop off in coaching IMO.

The players are very talented but they aren't being coached correctly. WR are OK and the D coordinators blow donkey balls.

I put it on coaching for not playing the more talented players and not having them in the correct spots.

I see your guys point. I am sorry i ever started this thread. With a good qb this is a entirely different team. And for those that say well what about defense?? The offense feeds of the def.

Leave it to the RANTards to find fault in our program.

talent dropoff
I also said the coaching transition took a big toll and we are seeing that this year. And that still amount to a lack of talent. Does it not????

No, that was not the thought you were expressing. Your content suggests that the Miles classes do not 'bring the beef' like Saban's.

The problem you fail to mention is that the reason for this senior class is the over-recruiting Saban did numbers wise in the '03 and '04 classes and left the incoming staff with so few scholarships.

Your post was one that praised Saban and put Miles down as having inferior recruiting classes to the Midget. The 2009 class may be the all time great in the history of LSU recruiting.

Les Miles is 'building a program' on a solid foundation for the future. He is not performing a 'process' that will look good in the short term.

To lay a solid foundation for a program takes much more integrity in the person building the sturdy foundation than creating a 'process'. In the 'process' the lies and deceptions will catch up with the person and he must then must move on to some other school to create the 'process'.

I don't remember saban having 2 # 1 classes. I thought the class with Marcus Spears, Mike Clayton, Wilkerson and Marquis Hill was his #1 class?

With a great D-coordinator, Lee never throws seven 6-picks this year.

With a good DC, you don't have to rely on the offense and a frosh QB.

That a Joke? Lafell had his Career best last night & Toliver has stepped up big in the past 2 games.

I think the talent is on par

I don't think we're coaching 'em up like we once did though

I just don't see play on the level of dorsey, kyle williams, wrotten, lavalais?????

These guys all played the same position and we never really relied on any of them until their Junior year. Dorsey got more pt than the others as a Soph. but he was a top 5 pick which we can't expect every year. Right now we are relying on young guys to fill these gaps. By their junior and senior year they will be very good. Al Woods is probably the only exception but from what people say our scheme doesn't fit his style.

The big disappointment is that our D-Line was so highly touted starting the year. Without Dorsey taking a double team they have had to improve individually which has happened for some but not for others.

The last LB'er drafted from LSU was Bradie James, who Gerry DiNardo signed. Miles is much, much, better at signing LB'er.

eric alexander - drafted by patriots
ali highsmith - not drafted but playing for arizona cardinals

both recruited by saban

truth is, miles does need to do a better job recruiting LBers. Baker will be good. these second rate georgia LBers wont cut it.

We have a total of 50 4 star and 5 star players combined, and looking at who we loose this year and gain, these number should be in the mid 50's

I think Saban at one time had the program at about 46 HS All Americans

So on paper, LSU's talent level is at an all time high...Looking at this incoming class, I am convinced it will be for sure...

Some hardware is coming our way in a few years...
