Wasn't there three or four players about fifteen years ago that sign with the tigers?

Kelvin Sheppard and Perry Riley signed with LSU in the same year and started multiple year in the NFL

Yes, Kelvin Sheppard and Perry Riley, signed with LSU back in 2006 out of Stone Mountain's Stephenson H.S. Both redshirted and stayed 5 years before moving on to the NFL.

Same squad also had Jermaine Cunningham who went to Florida, All SEC and longtime NFL pass rusher and Marcus Ball, Reggie Balls younger brother who I think was top 10 overall player in country. Went to FSU but got booted. Hitched on wirh Saints for a year or two IIRC

Perry Riley didn't redshirt, he played as a true freshman in 06.

My favorite Rb, that year. Sad it didn’t work out.
However, didn’t we get some good DL from Buford back in the 90s?
Maybe it was Melvin Richey.

You're correct. I always wondered why Riley played sooner over Sheppard since I thought Sheppard was the better LB. Sheppard ended up with the better career anyway and played longer in the NFL.

Some guys "get it" earlier than others and I figured that was just the case there.

Shep played 8 NFL seasons to Perry's 7. Interestingly, Perry had more career starts (74 to 63), including every game he played his last 5 seasons.
