Stereotyping A Recruit

I'm curious what the opinion are on here. If you had a high profile recruit that had tons of tattoos, including ones that could be seen while fully dressed, would you question the character of that kid? Chances are he is 17-18 years old yet he has all these tattoos. Is this a sign of a troubled youth or just artistic expression?
In the business world it is frowned upon for an employee to have a tattoo on his neck that can be seen at all times. He is seen as having a checkered past and has been known to make bad decisions. Is it any different in football/basketball?

I know the white guys generally have high motors

I was thinking the same thing.

Tattoos are tattoos and they are so common place these days that character judgments shouldn't be made from them.
I think the business model of "frowning upon" people with tats is so outdated, though it is still in practice, quite obviously.

Tats are fine if they can be hidden with a sleeve. But if you have 2 QBs and can only take one, would you rather the guy who is clean cut or the one with ink covering his neck?

I'd like to give credit to the poster who said it, but I don't recall.
When discussing Randall, he said the kid would be highly motivated to do well, because with visible tatoos on the front of his neck, it's NFL or bust.
I guess that's one way of looking at it.

The more talent you got, the more forgiving that people will be of your misjudgments in the past.
No one with a neck tattoo, that I know of, runs a fortune 500. However, there are more than a few that run a 4.4. The business is winning, so coaches usually won't mind.

Disagree with tats from the neck up. When I see someone with neck tats, they deserve to be stereotyped

I'll take the one with the most talent.

How long before some idiot brings the neck tat up when Randall throws a pick? "See!!! He makes poor decisions!!! Just look at that tatto on his neck!!!"

Since someone else mentioned Randall, would it shock you if he were arrested or suspended? Say he was (hypothetically), would you think twice next time or hope the next guy with "Thug Life" tattooed on his neck will be different?

Considering about 90% of the starters on any college team have at least one tattoo i wouldn't think it means too much.

Tats are cool
Disclaimer: I have none
Who cares if someone has tattoos.
This isn't a beauty contest ffs.

Yeah, I don't really get it.
Tats are tats. LeBron James is tatted to high heaven. He's never been arrested or been a "thug."
Who cares.

I've always said that neck tatoos = bad decision making.
Of course there are exceptions to the rule with everything, but there is one thing that no one can deny: Stereotypes exist for a reason!

Agree with the Deisel. College football today is a business that is all about winning. As much as they like to say "we graduate 90% of our players", fans don't pay $40 to watch the players throw their books on the field. Coaches are paid to win, and I don't think they care as much anymore about character as they do forty times. They say they do but they don't. I think the more talented a kid is, the more leeway they get if the coach feels like they can help him win games. Just look at ESPN every day and you will see proof. I don't agree with it but "it is what it is".
Sad but true.
