with Smith on board, and other positions still in need, I doubt there would be room at the moment. if some other targets fell by the wayside, and he showed interest maybe

Really perplexing why anyone would want to go to Miami right now (Dobard, Williams...). Not only are they a very small shell of what they used to be, but they are about to get hammered by the NCAA. They've already self-banned themselves from the postseason 2 years in a row. Oh, and the ACC might not last much longer as a conference to boot.

Let them go their careers will be ruined after Miami gets their punishment. I could never understand why talented kids would want to head into a no win situation for them when they have plenty of time to see it coming. If its an education thing with Miami then there are plenty of other schools with just as good educations as Miami that wont ruin your football career.

I don't care what other people say on this board about the kid but he chose to commit to Miami for what reason I don't know. He had every school in the SEC wanting him . My opinion he made a choice that he has to live with and hopefully it works out good for him.

Agree with your sentiments 504. There were some things I didn't like about his recruitment early but I'm not gonna hold it against the young man. I hope he makes a good, smart decision in the end and I wish him well in his career.

We have very little to no interest in Dobard. He turned off the staff with some of the things in his recruitment and just hasn't impressed them this year. I do expect a 3rd TE and at this point it appears the Carter kid has taken the lead in that race over Skinner. I'll be happy with either one but kind of like Skinner's pure receiving and athleticism more but Carter fits our team better as currently constructed.

I like...IMHO, we need to substantially change the offensive culture if we want to attract the kind of kids needed to dominate bama and the rest of the SEC. TE's that are weapons make great redzone targets.

I'm sorry, but how will their football career's be ruined? Miami will likely be on probahation. That means a bowl ban for a year or 2 and fewer scholarships, which will hurt depth and their record, but not the football developement of the players on schalarships there. I understand people wondering why someone would go there given the situation with Miami and possibly the ACC, but it won't hurt a player's career potential as far as the NFL is concerned. Just look a past NFL drafts, there are guys drafted from bad teams all the time. It's his life and just because he chooses to go somewhere besides your favorite team is no need to be angry. I root for the guys we get and wish the ones that go else where, epsecially outside the SEC well.

on a more serious note, has anyone seen this many top TEs come out of Louisiana in succession like this before?

Nick Jacobs, Dillon Gordon, John Thomas, Desean Smith, Standish Dobard, Jacory Washington, Deondre Skinner, now Cethan Carter is getting looks, there's another TE at Karr in the '14 class that's supposed to be legit, Acadiana has a '15 that is legit.

It's pretty insane.

I would like to see our offensive coaches visit Stanford in the offseason to learn how to better incorporate our TEs into the offense. Seriously.

I'd rather them break down the Stanford offense on tape as we prepare to face the Cardinal in the Rose Bowl.

Yes, I know...

What the hell is probahation? Im not mad because Dobbard didnt pick my favorite school Im just saying that if I were a highly regarded recruit I would not want to walk into a situation where the NCAA is about to hammer the team Im about to commit to for the nxt 3-4 years. Miami has a laundry list of violation and Im sure they will get hit USC hard with the penalties. Miami is going to be a program thats hurts from the sanctions way worse than USC did. No exposure, no bowls, limited scholarships. Its going to a mess down there and Ill be surpised if Golden doesn't get out before it gets bad.

Well, we aren't going to the Rose Bowl this year, so I don't know what you're trying to say. Coaches do visit other campuses to find out ways to do things better, it's not uncommon. And Stanford uses their TEs better than anyone else in the country, so why not learn from the best?
