LAMAR BROWN WILL PLAY OL ON SATURDAYS - AND SUNDAYS

LAMAR BROWN
6.0 RATING
6'5"|292 LBS|IOL
UNIVERSITY LABORATORY SCHOOL
BATON ROUGE, LA
CLASS OF 2026
UNDECIDED
Lamar Brown is the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2026 Rivals250, though some of his leading contenders are pursuing the four-star target to play along the defensive front. During his workout at UA Next in New Orleans, Brown shined playing both defensive end and lining up inside at guard. Brown had a compelling case to be the Offensive Line MVP and was squarely in the conversation for Defensive Line MVP honors as well.

In this analyst's opinion, Brown will eventually make his way to the offensive line on Saturdays. He's directly in the five-star conversation – with fantastic feet, power and the ability to block excellent in space and reach multiple levels of defenders. He's got NFL OL written all over him.

While it has been back and forth with A&M, and I sure it will be until he signs our side feels great about our position for the early commitment.

You wonder after the Travis Hunter thing if some school will sell Lamar on playing both ways to some extent

Almost next to impossible since an Olineman is expected to play every snap basically, which would mean defensively he would be very very limited in number of snaps but it wouldnt surprise me if teams are pitching that to him.

"start on the OL and get 10-15 snaps on defense a game to show what you got there too!"

From what I heard Lamar is leaning to defense and LSU is totally cool with that. LB even stated that Bo Davis leaving for the Saints didn't sway him one bit, LSU is still #1 over A&M.

I watched all of Lamars reps at the Under Armour camp and it is safe to say that he is not a 5 star OL but he is worth considering as 5 star DE in a 3-4 scheme. He is a very good athelete and moves well for his size.

Based on the film Under Armour New Orleans OL vs DL Lamar did very well at the camp but he really didn't go against anyone elite either.

LAMAR BROWN:

DL reps:
Joshua Austin - an unranked 2026 OT from Pflugerville, TX.
Zyion Wesley - an unranked 2027 OT from Edna Karr
Aydan Newell - a 3 star 2026 IOL from Brandon, MS who is committed to Jackson State

OL reps:
Broderick Peters - an unranked TE / OL from Hammond, LA

To say his path to the top 5 on the DL was pretty easy is an understatement.

His matchup was against:
Bryson Cooley - a 3 star OT from Laurel, MS

He isn't long enough to be an elite DE in a 4-3 but he is big and quick enough to be an elite DE in 3-4.

Meanwhile, Blaise Thomassie took reps against:
A'ri Slocum - a 3 star 2026 DT from Farmerville, LA who is committed to Arkansas and Blaise hands down won every matchup
Ricahrd Anderson - a 4/5 star DT from Edna Karr, and Blaise won those to make it to the top 5 call outs
In the top 5 Blaise went against:
Dylan Berymon - a 4 star DT from Monroe, LA. Blaise lost the first one, won the second one, and Dylan won the 3rd one only because he stif armed Blaises face which would be a 15 yard penalty in real life.

I've said it before and I will say it again, Blaise Thomassie is the best OL recruit in the state of LA for 2026.

He has time for more offers and his recruitment to take flight. Part of Lamar's ranking is due to his projection from multiple talent scouts.

What do you think could be holding back Blaise?

I don't know for certain, but I assume that he is talented enough on either side that you let him make that decision. Better to have him on one side than no side.

Blaise camped last year as a sophomore at 265 lbs and 6'4 so he was put in the, you need to grow, gain weight, gain muscle category if you want to play OT for LSU. It had absolutely nothing to do with his athleticism, speed, technique, quickness, etc. It was 100% about size and Brad Davis thinking he has his choice of 5 stars from all over the country to pick from and him not being worried about anyone else who isn't a 5 star or very high 4 star. This isn't my opinion either.

Blaise and his family understood LSU's position and wasn't upset with them for not getting an offer after camp last summer. To be honest, other schools said the same thing. Blaise knew he needed to get bigger and stronger if he wanted that offer.

Fast forward to today, where Blaise is 290lbs and 6'5" and a completely different prospect from this time last year. He made first team all state as a junior in the coaches poll, he has over a 4.0 gpa at Catholic High and scored a 30 on his ACT as a sophomore.

I think what is holding Blaise back now is just that LSU moved on to other kids who are ranked higher because they peaked earlier, not realizing Blaise has already passed them up before the rankings can catch up. I keep bringing him up because I know the ship is sailing and I'd love to see him purple and gold, one because I know his family, and two because I know he is the best OL prospect in LA in 2026.

Love it. Thanks for sharing this insight. Let’s hope he continues to impress at camps and end up in purple and gold

Brown has been very direct that he's playing defensive line in college, and he says each school is recruiting him for that side of the ball.

If he wants to play defense, you recruit him there. If not, you won't sign him. If he finds later that his future is on the offensive line, that's fine, but you let him make that decision. Who knows? He may be an All American defensive lineman.
